Ps3 launched at $600. $200 more than xbox 360. PSP launched at $250. $100 more than DS. These are most likely the reasons why they are losing in their respective markets. Do you think sony will launch psp2 $200 or under and ps4 at $400 or under?

Yes I do, on one hand launching at $600 as proven they can do that and (barely) get away with it.
IF MS can't gain the crown next gen, I hope Sony can.
of course the ps3 and psp were more expensive they were more high end machines i dont know why everyone has this view that sony should keep ther prices the same as the comp even though the machine is more expensive to produce i mean look at apple thats rediculouly overpriced no ones complainin about them ps4 will be 599 and psp2 will be either 249 or 299 because there more powerful macihnes thans nintendos and microsoft its fair enough
I think they will take this into consideration. They have lost a lot of fanbase because of their ego. I never really liked the original xbox, but I love the 360. Microsoft is still money hungry, but I own 5 times the amount of games for my 360 than for my PS3. I also think that they need to admit that their controller needs some work. It's tiny!

i understand that and i really appreciate what sony is trying to do. But we should all think about what would have happend if PS3 launched for $399. im pretty sure sony would have had huge sales.

Yeah, but does Sony want to be Apple, or do they want to be back on top again? I'm pretty sure being on top was a lot more profitable for them. I wouldn't look forward to them releasing another home console at $600.
i don't think its up to SCEA to decide, its SCEJ's move, so if its sells in japan its good for them.

It doesn't make sense SCEj decides everything especially since NA and Europe have a much larger market.
I dont really view the $600 thing as a "mistake" but rather a question of whether or not to put the Blu-ray drive in, and ultimately if all of the extras that blu-ray will give (like not only blu-ray games, but the entire 3-d thing as well b/c 3-d games/movies are basically required to use blu-ray). Sony basically knew in advance that it would start the 3-d revolution, and reasoned that it first had to lock-in blu-ray. And ultimately, I think that Sony made the right choice, even if it did sacrifice its games division for a few years at the expense of other efforts. Now, Sony has a market for 3-d theatre projectors, cameras for both film and consumer use, TV's and laptops, 3-d blu-ray players , etc. While Samsung leads with the most visible product, the 3-d TV, Sony basically leads everywhere else and are really helping movie makers implement 3-d filming so that it turns out well for the moviegoer. That kind of leadership ultimately makes you a leader of the market and usually, a moneymaker.
