Forums - Sony - Netflix Streaming to PS3 Now Available in Canada

"For those of you who don’t know what Netflix is, it’s the leading internet movie subscription service, which basically means that all of us Canadians can now watch an unlimited amount of movies and TV episodes for $7.99 a month.

Now your PlayStation 3 is able to stream from Netflix right to your TV, letting you chose from thousands of movie and TV episodes; watch as much as you want, whenever you want.

To get started simply look for the Netflix icon under the video icon in your XMB (cross media bar).

For all our friends in the US and current Netflix members, you’ll have to continue using the instant streaming disc for your PS3 system until the Netflix application icon becomes available for you in October.

For all our French speaking friends, Netflix intends to add French language capability over time.

Still not sure if Netflix is right for you and your PS3? Visit www.netflix.ca for your free one-month trial and see for yourself! With no late delivery fees, can your Wednesday get any better?"

I think I'll sign up for the free one-month trial and test this out!

Netflix.ca also lists their service as available for the Wii, and "Coming soon" for the 360.

This is wonderful...

The only problem is that my internet provider limits my bandwith to 75 gigs. And I have the highest level internet service they offer. (25 Mbps download, 7 upload)

Must find unlimited service which is as fast...

I also have a bandwidth cap, 60 gigs I think. I could see it being a problem for someone using the service at a moderate to high level.

Is there an estimate of what an hours worth of streaming SD and HD content is in terms of gigs? Is it like 1-2 gigs for an hours worth of HD content?

All major internet providers are doing it in Canada...They wan't to limit netflix usage and similar and keep the TV revenue coming.

Stupid CRTC...

Teksavvy is one of the ISP's around here that don't have a cap. Same with Yak. However these companies don't provide service everywhere. Unfortunately my rents got stuck into a Rogers contract without contacting me so I'm stuck with a cap.

Man, for being so involved with technological advancement front Canadians sure do get robbed when it actually comes to using tech. Phone market gets "new tech" a few years after everyone else and the phone selection is also behind the curb most of the time while paying out the wazoo for mediocre plans, internet caps with high prices, heck even electronics.

Ugh.. I'll stop there.

P.S. My post count just hit 360. woooo! Go XBOX!

the internet he is pretty expensive and slow but at least i can downlowd any size a month :)

Hmm, I was just browsing a few other sites, and some people are reporting that the movie and tv show selection is rather poor. Netflix just launched in Canada, so hopefully they'll be continually adding new content over the next few months.
