If they sold the PS3 for 400 at launch they would of ended up Sega Dreamcating themself out of the buisness as the investors would of revolted.
Ooooh but what if the Wii was $30 and Nintendo could produce a billion of them?
why not give it away or maybe pay people to take it? the threads question cant be answered because too many issues come up. would it be a different ps3 or would they be losing more money on each one? what would nintendo and ms do to counter the cheaper price? there would be more consoles sold overall due to cheaper prices but noone knows which would of sold more and the three console makers not would be in as good as position as they are now due to lower prices
