Forums - Sony - Working on a game

Coding a 3D game is a nightmare for just two people. Especially if you're using Blender, which is incredibly powerful but still a complete pain in the arse for everything.

If you want to get something on PSN, make a 2D game. Like Braid. Like Shank. Like Castle Crashers. Like Scott Pilgrim. Like Mega Man. They still do well, they still get onto PSN, and they're significantly cheaper and require less effort and ability.

I am hopeful we can do the coding. I have herd 1 guy that creates games for XBL i think his game company or whatever is called dishwasher games. But then you have the Hello games guys thats four people. Granted those 2 examples i believe had schooling under there belt, anyway it can be done though very difficult.

We are weighing whether we want to do 2d or 3d. I really want a lovely 3d game but its probably to much to tackle for us right now. However, im going to still probably try it and then if things dont go as planned then do 2d.

^I'd start small with a 2D game, then work your way up to learn the concepts.

With 3D, you might be overwhelmed and give up, while 2D is much more possible and you can have an easier time making 3D with some extra knowledge.

What kind of game do you have in mind?

i actually have a question for you, i downloaded blender but have very little idea how to use it.  did you teach yourself how to use it or are you still a novice as well?

Well story wise its going to resemble the movie Commando. As you can see im a arnold fan so..no surprises there.

Actual look and type prolly will end up being a 2d with mostly hand to hand combat, shooting, and puzzle elements. Going to have to see though i like the look of zombie apocolypse.

Definitly watch the tutorials on there site. i am getting fairly proficient at navigating it now but i was clueless before. Hot keys are the way to go so learn them and it will make things easier. I would link videos that i found useful but my internet is being stupied. I watched one with this middle eastern or whatever guy it was pretty difficult to understand through his accent but after a couple times rewinding it i eventually figured it out. Then i watched others and got better at it.
