yeah nice idea but doesn't work.People have very twisted views and quite a few would probably enjoy making otherts suffer and then enjoy their own suffering.

Then those "quite a few" should expect their misdeeds to come back to them.
If you spend your life screwing other people over, then expect to get screwed over at least once. For example, if you cheat on your lover, then don't be surprised if a future lover cheats on you.
Then again, morality like life can be quite ironic. Those at the top echelons of society, I am speaking of CEOS, are rewarded with higher salaries and golden parachutes for "restructuring," which is just a polite term for firing thousands of workers. It is not fair, but human beings are not helpless creatures at the complete mercy to those above them in social ranking to tell them how to live their life. We are all individuals and we are affected not only by the choices we control, but those out of our control.
I will not lie, life is not fair. Most are born without the parental crutches Donald Trump had to turn their parent's hotel company into a multi-billion dollar hotel franchise. Most of us come from modest means and can only dream of one day having the 5 bedroom house with a 3 car garage filled with luxury cars.
The point of, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you is to live your life treating others as how you would want them to treat you. We all want to be treated with respect, sympathy, and honesty. If you want to be treated well, then take the initiative and start living it through your interactions with others.

In a round about way that's called survival of the fittest. Many (not just a few) think survival of the fittest is the best way to go because it puts the stongest individuals at the top of the pile. Hence if you believe very strongly in survival of the fittest you can live by the golden rule and justify comitting tyrannical acts by saying "if someone is in a position to bring me down then they should, because it means they are better than me and deserve to usurp my position".
Do unto others is a good starting point, but it's not the entire solution.
Odd that you should criticise religion while promoting the virtues of the GR. Over the millennia it has been religion that has exhorted people to follow the Golden Rule more than any other philosphy or ideology. And the golden Rule has its origin in religious scripture. In fact the Golden Rule is, without exception, a unifying factor for all religions.
If there's a philosophy that promotes itself as a religion and it doesn't have the GR as one of it's central tenets then it's not a religion. For those who are religious it's pretty much a test of whether something could be a true religion or not. Of course if you're not religious, or you're anti-religion then this is irrelevant fantasy.
I don't know where you get the idea that living by the GR suggests you can engage in illicit drug use or prostitution. If you apply the golden rule to the use of illicit drugs then you quickly come up against the sorts of behaviours that are harmful to other people aznd thus violate the GR (even with a totally legal drug like alcohol there is a great deal of harm done when people are in a drunken state that they would never do sober). If you were to think deeply on the GR you would come to the conclusion that the only way to guarantee that you always live by the GR is to live a life of total sobriety. On the matter of prostitution I imagine if you were to ponder the GR a while you'd also be lead to conclude that prostitution is incompatible with a life dedicated to the GR.
On the other hand if you are content with abiding by the GR most of the time, but not all the time, then you'd be able to fit illicit drug use and prostitution into the time when you exempt yourself from the GR.
Also the GR suggest that you must not troll or flame other people on internet forums. Especially if they own/prefer a gaming platform that you do not own/like. In fact you should refrain from making any disparaging comments. You don't have to be complimentary or force yourself to say nice things, of course. Like everyone's grandmother says "if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all". Imagine if this forum lived by that "rule", which is really an extension or corollary of the GR. It would be a so much more pleasant and peaceful environment. Though it might get a bit boring. And the mods would have nothing to do.
