Forums - Sony - Missing HDD Space?

I've replied to this thread twice from my phone and both times, something happened to keep my post from going through.  Might I add that typing a long post from a phone and having it disappear is a heartbreaking experience.

In a nutshell, what I posted was that from my experience with SD cards, memory stick pro duos, and physical hard drives from Sony, Microsoft, and Seagate, I NEVER get the amount that's promised.  In some instances, almost 50GB was missing!  I'm fine with the lack of accuracy, but why not be innacurate in my favor?  Instead of saying I have a 500GB HDD and only giving me 455GB, why not say I have a 450GB HDD and give me 455GB?  I'll be a lot less pissed, that way.

Around the Network

Another thing I just thought of, if you use Playstation Home at all, that takes a considerable amount of your memory.  I don't know if it is a % or not, but I just wanted to test it out last night and it reserved 3 gb of memory on my ps3...I ended up deleting it right afterwards because I thought it was about the biggest waste of 3 gb I've ever seen.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

Not sure. Sounds mysterious. I only have 37/40GB to use on mine.

On my 80GB i had 74. You lost 3, I lost 6. Going by that pattern, the op should have lost 9GB... unless it doubles every 40GB for some crazy reason which means he loses 12.
