I was just checking my local site to order Halo: Reach when I came across this little factoid.

Thats just strange. If its a typo then VGC is quite spot on with Halo 3 sales to date and if its not then thats a major discrepency.

Thoughts?

It's possible that the discrepency is due to VGChartz not tracking the xbl version. But not likely, I doubt digital sales make up anywhere near that fraction of total sales.

Most likely, someone who doesn't have the passion for video game sales that the team here have, has been paid a few measley dollars to write that description, and didn't do any research. I'll trust VGChartz overmightyape.co.nz any day, in the absence of manufacturer shipment data

It is currently #4 on Games on Demand total sales. Thats behind Games Room (Free download), Rockband Music Store, and Halo Waypoint. So it could be over 1M sales via Games on Demand though it cannot likely be any higher than 2M given the downloads of Rockband music store.

They've made a typo. Else it'd be someplace else on the internet other than that site, if you google the 14.5m figure, and halo. The first hit is this page.

This description was probably made before Halo 3 released...so the 14.5 million figure is basically Halo CE plus Halo 2 sales, am I rite ?

I think so.Halo Halo 2 = 14.86 million according to VGC. Having the "upcoming film adaptation" bit in there seems like it's either rather old, or rather wishful thinking at this point.

The wording of the paragraph does seem to suggest that the 14.5 million figure is combined sales of the franchise as at the time of writing. which does not make sense if it was written recently.
