I hope they make a marksmen playlist at some point so, those of us that like playing regular slayer don't get stuck with swat and snipers all the time. It's bad enough that slayer dmrs is likely going to be the choosen game type.

Dude the dmr is where its at!

god no.  I've had enough of that crap in halo2 and 3. Besides the pistol is pretty much the same thing.

So your a fan of the less skilled weapons eh?

no im a fan of playing the map and getting the power weapons. If you can kill a guy all the way across the map with the starting weapon, whats the point of having power weapons?

Calling the Ar less skilled is n't even an argument.  There's more to skill that just shooting headshots. Having a feel for a guns strengths and weaknesses is important.

I'd rather have variety in the game than the same thing over and over.

Yeah I use pretty much any weapon that I feel like for the best situation seeing as i'm good with every weapon.

But really man theres no argument the ar doesn't take much skill compared to the dmr.

are you saying that one hit scan weapon needs more skill than another hit scan weapon? There's a  fallacy there somewhere.  The biggest difference in the two weapons is the fact that one can register headshots. Skill isn't only head shots.

wow I don't even know where to begin with this.....

If the DMR takes the same amount of skill as the AR then why do all the pro's use BR/DMR?

first, 'pro gamer' is a joke.

Second, they use it because they choose to do so. Shooting headshots makes them feel special.

Third, Do you even have an argument? or are you just going to keep repeating it until its true?

1. Pro gamer is not a joke (MLG says hello)

2. They use it cause it takes more way more skill to master then the AR, and once you do get skilled with it you can dominate kids hard.

3. Do you even have an argument? or are you just going to keep repeating it until its true?

Think about it, the AR has a giant reticule where you just point it in their general direction and it will kill them, whilst the DMR has a small reticule and it takes much more skill to hit people in the head (especially since it has a pretty large reticule bloom)

What are you gonna say next? That the sniper takes as much skill to master as the shotgun? cause thats just about as ridiculous.

Just about anybody can get kills easy with the AR but it takes lots of time and skill to get that good with a DMR.

By increasing a weapons range you increase the ability to engage multiple targets simultaneously allowing for far greater teamwork as good players can consistently move in such a way as to lock down map portion while covering their teammates back at the same time. AR's effective range is so small that teamwork devolves to staying within 10 feet of your teammate, you lose all the intricate movement and positioning that comes with a ranged weapon.

The inherent risk for charging a power weapon is far greater with DMR's. If your teammates do not suppress the opponents you will die before getting within a few feet of the rockets. With AR's its simply a head long charge into close range chaos.

Finally the most simple reason is that the DMR reticule is smaller meaning it takes far more hand eye co-ordination to consistently land shots on the enemy, especially one that has very good movement. Because of this gameplay does not devolve into who see's who first as a good player can out shoot and out strafe his opponent when down shots. This is practically impossible with ar's as the reticule is so big that even a player with a modicum of skill will not miss once in range and the game becomes who see's who first.

Those are just a few reasons but there are more. Don't get me wrong ar starts take skill too in their own way (especially with pistol secondary) and ar's are useful in given situations but when it comes to skill of use the DMR far outclasses the AR. The best way to test this would be to create a small room in forge and spawn a high level player and a medium player level with ar's. The score will be very close with players consistently trading kills. Do the same with a DMR start and the medium level player would be lucky to get a third of the high level players kills.
