Total flame bait thread which seems to have been successful in managing to get a person banned. Well done keep it up.

There is boxing in Kinect Sports and I've seen gameplay of it work quite well. Recognizes blocks, uppercuts, jabs, hooks, etc in normal punch speed. Unless the players are professional boxers I don't think its noticeable. Are you scowering the internet for negative articles about Kinect? I don't see how you could just come across that article online by accident.

Its  funny, i thought the same thing

Weird, I seem to remember certain articles like this one:

Enjoy that little tidbit. Straight from Microsoft and Harmonix.

And here are some more good times:

This one is talking about how Kinect is too advanced to copy. Leoj, you're getting so sloppy at these things. You have to actually get information before you try to make an argument.

So, MS says its product is wonderful and works perfectly...

"Innkeeper, how's the wine"?

"Good"!

haha, same thoughts.

Do you seriously expect MS saying that their hardware has lag issues and can't track 1:1?

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

I dont support Leo j in posting negative crap just for the sake of it, but what the heck with some comments here?!? The current kinect boxing game doesnt track legs at all. Though, it seems to capture fast movement well enough. It looks like great fun, but precision isnt anything special.

But boxing has got to be one of the most upper body related martial arts there are?

Judo is all about your stance, same with sumo wrestling.

The martial arts I've done (Bukido and Tae kwon do) were very much about lower body work too, much more so than the boxing I've seen, which is admittedly not a huge amount.

Surely,by comparison to other martial arts, Boxing is mostly to do with the upper body?

I love when people talk out of their asses. The footwork is essential on boxing. Just watch boxing some day. Of course there is a lot of upper body work too but upper body work is not just arm punches. It is bopping, weaving, shoulder rolling etc. Those are things that kinect can track and move/wm can't.

And what is the point to compare it to other martial arts? It does not in any way validate the argument that boxing is "mostly upper body sport".

Bopping....Weaving....Shoulder rolling are all detectable 'Upper body' movements?   You're right, I love it when people talk out of their asses.   Yes footwork is important in boxing but even more so than that is responsiveness and accuracy.  Two things that it appears Kinect will not have.

I also forgot to add that when you track the hand angle and 3D position perfectly, you can easily extrapolate the arm and shoulder position precisely. So each tech, if program correctly, knows where your shoulders are and what is your shoulders movements. Ever try moving your shoulders without your hands changing angle or position? Since the hand is the extremity, any change in the rest of the arm and shoulder will result in a unique position of the hand position and angle (angle is very important here). Should precise im talking about natural movements here.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  I thought I'd never see that thread again!!

On topic:  I suspect that in a years time, the smoke from the Kinect/Move battle will be clear and one of the two will be an overwhelming success while the other will be an interesting experiment (aka huge failure).  Let's come back in 365 days and see how it went.

Actually, I do not see either of them being tremendously successful this generation.  Until their refined versions are bundled with the PS4/Nextbox, they will be nothing more than a peripheral (light gun, Sega CD etc.)  It is good that Sony/MS are testing the waters, but honestly, I do not think it will make a significant impact for either.

Take my case for example, while I prefer Move's implemendation, I probably won't get it at all.  I already have a Wii, and with WMPlus I really haven't seen anything on Move (or Kinect) that excites me.  Sony/MS can bash Wii all they want, but the fact remains that Wii has a solid, prexisting library of motion games, and I have seen little software that makes me want to move (pun intended).

There are many in my posistion, so I hold that neither Move or Kinect will be truly successful until bundled at launch.  Then again, I am a PC gamer too, so maybe console-only gamers would be more likely to buy Move/Kinect.

So you think kinect can't track those? On what are you basing that assumption? :)
