Forums - General - Who is your favorite Comic / Manga publisher?

Lets have a talk about Comics and Mangas all together, if you are not a fan of either you might want to start reading the suggestions so you can get on board (you really should!), also i am interested in Mangas since i only read comics, and a small bunch of them too.

My favourite Publisher is VERTIGO

Which is an independant Imprint of DC Comics that focuses on the more adult reader than the typical "super hero haz powers saves the world" thing.

They created classics such as

Sandman (obviously my favorite including the spin offs)

Y : The Last Man

Fables

V For Vendetta

Stardust

100 Bullets

where else do you see a comic book series suddenly turned into a Manga  just for the lulz ?

And then Amano (The Final Fantasy artist you guys know)  joins in and does this

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

- Wasteland - The Mission.

Kodansha

because they published the only two I've read... Ghost In the Shell And Planetes... My two favorite animes or things to watch in general... so I wanted more of the material related to that :P

I want the amano ones... but more to look at.

I don't really like reading as I get bored easy for some reason.

yes I did. I liked it, but not to the extent of my favorites. I loved the music by yoko kanno though.

What about Akira?

I enjoyed that as well. Though not my favorite as well.
My favorites are... Uhhh
Planetes
Ghost In The Shell, pretty much every single anime that they've done with it.
Haibane Renmei (Have seen that?)
Perfect Blue (I guess this is a movie.)
An Probably Monster... though this series had too many filler episodes.

Oh yeah, I forgot. I read ninja turtles when I was a kid :P

No i haven't seen Haibane Renmei , i just checked it and found out that Kow Otani is the guy behind the music , which is making me want to watch it RIGHT NOW! ,hes the guy behind Shadow Of The Colossus soundtrack

also ! , one of the reasons i made this thread is to whore out Vertigo comics xD , so uh... i suggest you try reading one of the ones listed above , i HIGHLY recommend Death : The High Cost Of Living  or Y : The Last Man first  , even though Sandman is my favorite comic series, its very mind buggling and complex to start with , Death is very lighthearted and straight forward.

American Comics: I would have to say either Vertigo or IDW, gotta love Fables and Sandman

Japanese: probably Kodansha, most of the stuff I read is from them like GTO, Gundam etc...

American company that releases manga: I used to like Tokyopop, but they oversaturated the market

really, wow. I didn't know that. I loved the music for both but didn't connect the dots.

I got it because I like Yoshitoshi ABe's  conept art/character designs for Serial Experiments Lain, texhnolyze. But he wrote doujinshi for haibane renmei, for which the anime was based on. And I liked the story more than the others.

Death looks quite Interesting. I will check it out. Didn't you have that comic as your avatar at one time?
