cute, but childish and misinformed.

Your the one that's misinformed.  If piracy was theft, when you get caught, you'd be arrested for robbery.  Instead, your sued for copyright infringement.  Big difference.

still against the law.  Pirating is not making a copy, it is stealling a copy. Big difference

What? Do you, by any chance, happen to be a troll? Or are you actually refering to "real" piracy, like pirates at sea?

Let me explain it this way.  Say you buy something with your credit card, and the clerk copies your card info, then gives you back your card.  He then goes home and uses your card # to buy all kinds of shit.  Did he just pirate your identity or is this ID theft.  What ever you what to call it, it is the same.  You are taking something that does not belong to you, in this case data, and with out the permission of the owner. That is theft.

I suppose Grand Larceny is not theft.  When you get caught they don't charge you with theft, they charge you with Grand Larceny.  It is just a type of theft, just like piracy.

Your troll comment was uncalled for and pointless.  It may have been a bad attempt at humor, I don't know

No.  If you steal money from someone you are removing money from their account, not copying it.  Theft and copyright infringement are 2 seperate things, which is why there are seperate laws governing them.  You can say that piracy is theft all you want, but that doesn't make it true.

There are many seperate laws governing theft, because theft is a broad term. I never said they were legally the exact same. Besides, I don't care what government laws call it.  I can read a definition then decide for myself whether something applies to that or not.  IMO by definition, piracy is theft.  Do I care what I would get charged with if I pirated a game, no because I'm an honest hard working person who doesn't mind supporting the companies who make the games, therfore I don't have to worry about it. You can justify it as piracy all you want, to me, it is still just a thief.

Where did I try to justify piracy?  I just pointed out that piracy is not theft and the definition of theft is not something you can change to suit your needs.  Theft is not a term like hardcore gamer where the definition can vary from person to person.  Theft is a defined term and if you define it differently, your wrong.  Kind of like most people misuse the word irony.  They think it means one thing but they are wrong.  And again, I'm not defending piracy in any way, I'm just pointing out that your defintion of the theft is wrong.

Theft-

1.   the wrongful taking and carrying away of the personal goods or property of another; larceny.
2
an instance of this.
3.
Archaic . something stolen.
1. criminal law  the dishonest taking of property belonging to another person with the intention of depriving the owner permanently of its possession
2.

rare  something stolen

The personal goods or property that you are stealing is data. When you buy a game, you don't own that data. That definition does not specify that it has to be a physical object. What does the P in IP stand for anyway.

Look, you are not going to change my opinion on this, so please stop trying. I guess we can just agree to disagree.

I know I'm not gonna change your definition of the word.  I just wanted to make sure you know that your definition of the word theft is wrong.  It's how I contribute to society.

Also, that defintion you bolded clearly means taking property or data, not copying.

If I could mod a PS3 to play PS2 and PS games, I would buy a PS3 immediately. And never go online.

All ps3s play PS1 games.

Do they upscale them, double the resolution and have better frame rates...like Bleemcast did?

I'm not happy about it, but only because ever since the new firmware, my PS3 loads incredibly slow. It takes over 2 minutes for my PSN games list to load up, something that used to be instant.

Currently playing: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, NBA2k11, Metal Gear Solid, Picross 3d

Yes I do believe it does do all of that,  there are settings in the XMB that control those things

I am glad that Sony blocked this Jailbreak thing,  because piracy is never a good thing.

I just wish that Sony was this quick and efficient at getting out features that the majority of PS3 users want.

i think it would have been nice to see some homebrew from it.

Right, because we know everyone that says they only use things like the PSJailbreak for homebrew actually uses it for homebrew.

And yes, I'm happy with anything that blocks piracy.

I did not prove your point, I did the opposite.  You can't just read a sentence and stop on the comma.  For theft to occur, the original owner most lose the object or data, not have it copied.

Theft=Going to a guys house and stealing his video game.

Piracy=Going to a guys house and copying a video game.

I did not prove you point in any way, form or fashion.  If you don't want to believe the FACTUAL definition of theft and choose to believe the MAKE BELIEVE definition of theft fine, but don't try to misconstrue what I typed because it won't work.

It's great to see a thread filled with people that are in denial. The jailbreak is far from gone. They will either modify it or work around it. And if they can't, we will find a whole new way of hacking PS3's. In the mean time, you guys go ahead and spend some more time preaching what's right and what's wrong.

The days of PS3 being hack-proof are over gentlemen, get over it.
