I like microsoft,but I like sony better.
All you can do as a consumer is vote with your wallet. of course there going to be cofident when everybody buys there products.
There are two words the OP needs to understand when writing an article such as this, that would be confidence and arrogance. In my case, Microsoft is the former, Sony the latter. These two positions can easily be reversed depending whether you believe the PR from each company.
Of course the best solution is to realise that all the crap you judge as deep and meaningful is in fact garbage spewed forth to encourage you to part with your money.
No blu-ray, for a long time no free wifi, forever no free online multi-player, yah in case you missed it Microsoft has been over priced for a while but if people keep spending money on it well why should they stop.

Do you remember what happened with FFXIII going multi? With GTA IV? With a few games showing marginal differences between the PS3 and Xbox 360? With people having a fit because the Wii was outselling X or X Y consoles? Need I say more than that because I can really go on and on about this...

Then you have obviously never been on Xbox Live to realize its worth paying for. And as everyone else has stated you can get 12 month gold cards for $39.99 on Amazon and other websites. Search for 5 minutes.
