Forums - Sony - Initial Move : Sports Champions Reviews are up!

Also to just do a bit of analysing for you guys over those IGN reviews as to claim they are positive reviews is pretty far out.

IGN gave Sports Champions 7.5/10.

Eye Pet  8/10

Kung Fu Rider 3.5/10

Raquet Sports 4.5/10

and Tumble 3.5/10

Now the Eye Pet has been out for ages but let's keep it in there for the sake of arguments.

If you add up the launch titles for Move Ign gave it 27/50. To put that into % terms that is a overall score of 54%.

If you remove Eye Pet from it the total would be 19/40 or 47%.

That is not positive, that is pretty bad.

What is also quite weird about some of these reviews is they praise Move in some areas and the way it works but then contradict themselves in some of the game reviews by saying some of them don't detect your movements i.e Sports Champions. Which is pretty bad reviewing if you write in one article a few paragraphs saying how accurate it is only to say how un-accurate it is in the next one...

It's IGN, what did you expect? They give a lot of awful review scores and their reviews are not very well written most of the time IMO. You also have to see that casual games normally get much lower review score than core games, so a 7.5 for example is actually pretty good.

But when I saw the what IGN gave for Tumble (3.5) I was pretty shocked, but then I watched the Gametrailers.com review of Tumble and they gave it 8.3. I don't know, some reviews by IGN are just stupid...

Im going to buy move so I can get on video chat with all my buddies on PSN and pretend to masturbate. The colour ball on the end just tells me its going to be a lot of fun sneaking up on my girlfriend in the middle of the night.

Tease.

I think the problem with some of the reviews are the people who are reviewing it. The games are not designed to be for your hard ass Modern Warfare 2 type gamer, just friendly casual fun.

And now you can relate with millions of Wii owners that have the same issue that you are bringing up.

well, move works like sony said  , good

Concluding thoughts

"I was a fan of most of the offerings found in Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. I even found a few things redeeming about Wii Play. But that doesn't make me a mini-game sports fanboy. I still expect some depth to my collection of casual and unusual pick-up-and-play games. Fortunately, Sports Champions more than delivers.

For better or worse, I was expecting Sports Champions to be a glorified Wii Sports, the Playstation 3's answer to casual, motion gaming. What I wasn't expecting was a set of experiences that so effortlessly blended high-resolution graphics with precision motion detection. Sports Champions managed to give me a level of intuitive motion gaming I've rarely found, even on the Wii's MotionPlus, and did so in a way I found oddly addictive and pleasantly fun."

"The Move isn't a brand new platform for Sony, as Kinect is for Microsoft's Xbox 360; it's another option for developers to play with. By adding Move support to a game while having the ability to keep standard controls, publishers can support the Move hardware without having to bank on it. This also means that developers can freely port between the Wii and the PS3, or give their existing Wii games a nice graphical overhaul and a new release to broaden their market. That's an advantage the Kinect won't be able to match; it's all or nothing with Microsoft's take on motion control."

Found that pretty interesting. Anyway...

Go Eyepet! Go Tumble!

I'm all for the Move....To be honest, have to base some of this on the core experiences of the launch titles, and not some glitchiness that might be found in the games themselves, especially since they'll probably end up being patched in the next 2 weeks based on the way reviewers mention certain glitches...

All in all, these titles coming out are just a few, and mostly a preview of, what is to come.  From what I am seeing I am extremely optimistic in what we might be seeing announced for Move in the next couple months...

Edit:  In addition...A lot of people already have Move pegged in their mind as a WiiCopy...so this first lot of games is probably going to get a whole lot of grief about it until people play it for real, not just for a couple hours and then write a review.

Just waiting for that PS Vita to come out so I can play some full featured games on the go with that beautiful screen and control scheme...
