Get the moment, root the phone and follow the site I posted. My phone last a whole day now, it does die when I don't use it like the Hero does. The only thing is the moment is chunky and the keyboard is not the best I have used.

Yeah, but the internet doesn't have pinch zoom on the Moment. I'm not sure how much he would use the internet but i think it's highly important since i do.

I'm likely to use it some. How important is 2.2?

Also my contract isn't up for 8 months, and I'm not going to wait till then so even with the instant rebate from Best Buy that's not really an option right now. Still need to pick between the Intercept and Moment (and maybe Hero, but again it doesn't seem like it's incredibly up-to-date).

What about a Sprint 3G tether for your iTouch?

Doesn't exist yet, not particularly helpful.

It's not. It lacks features that the Moment has (particularly the AMOLED screen and EV-DO RevA, making it a better screen and faster internet. Intercept, however, will most likely be getting an Android 2.2 upgrade while the Moment will not. I have no idea how important 2.2 is.

@Dallas

I'm not paying $350 for a phone (that's with a 2 year contract, and after the rebate). Especially when on top of that I'm adding $10 a month to my bill for 4G and numerous high-end features which I will not use at all. Actually if I use Cragislist I can get one of these phones (or the Hero) for under $150.

I can't comment on those two phones you mentioned, as I haven't used either. (I'm on verizon and have an Incredible) However I'd say get whichever is upgrading to Android 2.2 Froyo is a HUGE upgrade in every way, and they've improved the OS so it is both much lighter (and this runs notably smoother on the same phone as 2.1) and drains less battery life.

Getting 2.2 is a big deal. I'd say any Android phone that isn't getting 2.2 isn't worth buying — it's already obsolete.

Furthermore, the value of AMOLED has been oversold. It only saves power as long as your screen is dark. If you're surfing VGC or the 80% of the web with a white background, AMOLED will actually drain your battery faster than LCD. Throw in the problems with sunlight and a few other niggling issues and I'd stick with LCD for now.

How is this helpful? That's not a Sprint phone, and clearly I can't afford an extremely high-end Android.

I have only had 2.2 on my Evo so i can't tell you how it was before 2.2. I would probably go with the intercept  since its the newest but you can try them all at the Sprint store to see if you like them or not.

I know you're with Sprint but I grabbed a Droid 2 from Verizon for $200 (with a $100 rebate coming in the mail in 4 weeks) and I fucking love it.  It can do EVERYTHING.  If changing companies is an option, I couldn't reccommend getting a Droid 2 or Droid X more.

I don't understand why people buy in store. You can get it online without any hassle of the rebates.

It takes 1 or 2 days to get the phone and about 3mins to activite.
