Yup, PC all the way dude. 

Your 360 has a 3 year warranty, just so you know.  So you can get that gaming PC AND have your 360 working again...  PS3 has a 1 year warranty so if it's been less than a year you can have all 3 back!

Get the PC. You can get a new PS3/360 later when they're cheaper or save the money and get yourself a 8th gen console when those arrives.

It would come down to what games they are currently playing. Right now I would want a gaming pc as that is the only way to play starcraft 2 and diablo 3. On the other hand when Halo reach comes out I will be dam glad I have my xbox.

You can actually purchase both console and it will still be less than a gaming PC. He will have more games to play that way. But, if he intend to purchase the console later on than my point is moot. Thats the missing information here. If the gaming PC is to replace the console for quite a while I would get the consoles instead. I agree with you that it comes down to the exclusives you wanna play but in the long run he would be better getting the consoles or all 3, not just the PC.
