I played Sports Champions and Slider. Also watched other people playing different stuff. I thought they did a good job with Sports Champions. Only played the archery mode though. Sliders however... movement didn't work that good. Thus I'm pretty sure it's more the software's fault than the hardware. |
Sports champions: swordplay and tenis. Didn't played archery mode because they only had one wand available for each attendant at that booth and that mode sucks with only one wand.
Apart of that I've also played a rail shooter (can't recall the name), and we could immediately see the difference in the smooth and quick pointer control comparing to the laggy one on Sports.
There was a game in a booth near the retro section, which had an Elder Scrolls Oblivion like game but using move, and the controls were screaming "waggle" all over the TV. Preset motions. The guy playing it wasn't clearly enjoying it lol. I stopped to watch but I didn't play it.
Finally I got my hands on Move Party which was near the GT5 section if I'm recalling it correctly, and it works flawlessly, but it isn't big deal too. Its an improved eye toy and now you can hold stuff in your hands just like those tech demos. No complete 3D environment with models holding what you're holding (this sentence sounds weird)
And on the outside between the pavillons 9 and 8, if you were there you must recall those RC "helicopters" being showcased inside a hollow booth near the coffee trailer. It was damn fun to control it with a tilt controller, they were really responsive and steady flight machines. I think I'm going to get one when I have plenty of cash to spend. They're very precise, one of the "developers" landed one on top of anothers guy head, which was quiet holding a book in his head. Perfect land, it was astonishing to see it.
And as a personal rant, I spent almost 30 minutes on the lines right in the right side of the entrance of the Koelnmesse Convention Center, because I thought we had to do some sort of check in. The attendant told me "you have the press pass, you can go directly to the hallway son"...
I felt like a noob, but you know, our first time is always complicated :P
