Eww. Do you guys know that Intel is threatening to surpass the PS3s GPU with their IGP next year?

HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! Were it an AMD/ATI IGP, I could believe it, but each time Intel announces it finally managed to make a fast IGP, shortly after mankind is introduced to a new definition of slowness!!!

Their latest mainstream one is about as fast as the ATI HD 5450 and they have a part coming which is twice as fast as the one which was tested at Anandtech. So its not that much of a stretch if you consider their 22nm 2011 tick model. Unfortunately, it seems they might actually be right this time.

The latest I saw charted was still two steps (in Tom's HW hierarchy chart) below even my HD3300, that's not exactly new, I bought it during Q1 2009, but it was released in H2 2008.

Still an improvement, though, in the past it took ages to Intel to even reach an integrated Radeon Xpress 1150 or the glorious old discrete entry level GPU 9200.

Oh, I see, really the latest, thx for the link.    Good, so AMD and NVidia will have to drastically improve their entry level and integrated GPUs.

modern warfare barely reaches 30fps at lowest quality on 1024x768.

console version its locked 60fps. higher than medium quality.

For everyone trying to say that PS3 is much harder to develop for...

I haven't really heard devs complain in the last year or 2 about PS3 development difficulty.  Is it easier now that devs are more familiar with it?

An experiment that needs to be done is getting people that have been living under a rock as far as gaming is concerned (doen't know a thing about 360 and PS3).  Have them play exclusives of each console with a controller  and television that is exactly the same and have them rate which games look the best.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

44FPS on beta drivers for the lowest of the two tiers of Intel CGPU performance. I was talking about what the 22nm version would be doing next year, 2011.

Why just the exclusives? So the PS3 could win? Cause if that's the criteria then obviously the PS3 wins.

There could be a multi plat test also.  The exclusives are usually tailored more to the hardware of the console.  I think most people can agree that PS3 has edge on the technical stuff.  There are very few that try to argue that the 360 is better, technically.

True but I've seen middleware engine games on 360 such as the RAGE engine and the Unreal Engine beat anything that the 360 first party offerings have produced. Also developers have to use Direct X on 360 while with the PS3 they can program to the metal. This is because MS want to ensure backwards compatability with the next console. MS may have to abandon that if they want to go another 5 years.

Microsoft won't have to abandon it. They simply won't need it. When they started this generation they targetted 4-5 years as their console life-span so the replacement console would obviously have a much better shot at backwards compatibility if they used a hardware abstraction layer. Now if they are targetting 7-8 years for the replacement console and have a fair idea of whom their next vendor is, they can obviously relax those restrictions if they wished to because their next generation hardware would be significantly more powerful than they expected at the start of the generation.
