Forums - Sony - Move: Sony doesn't expect big day one sales, hopes for Eyetoy like success

I expect the same, and I think that will make Move sales just the opposite of Kinect sales:

Kinect will start strong, mainly due to the massive advertising and false expectations. But it will soon lose its steam because many people will soon be disappointed and tired of Kinect.

PS Move on the other hand will probably have a slow start and then sales will rise.

What I found interesting however is how much better PS Move is already doing on german Amazon. The PS Move starter pack is currently ranked place 21, while Kinect is place 87 and dropping more and more each day. And that even though many people won't even buy the starter pack because they already have the Playstation Eye.

I think that's quite good, because even though its launch day is just two weeks away I haven't seen absolutely any kind of advertising for Move over here so far. Microsoft on the other hand is already spending lots of money on advertising in Germany - just today I saw a huge "KInect" booth placed in the most crowded place of my city.

About the amazon comment, even if it may kill some seals I agree. Also many argued the positions of kinect vs Move in amazons in uk and us as a sign of Move heading for doom...surprisingly (actually it kinda surprises me too because there is almost NO marketing to the product yet while the competition is going all out with marketing) Kinect is 65 in Amazon US while Move is 67 ...in Amazon uk Kinect is 107 vs Move at 69...this will most probably will change near launch but still it really is surprising how well Move is doing, even for me

wow talk about about spin in the headline :S

Move's success will be in the long run and not the short run.... as I have been saying so for ages now.... Eyetoy is just an example he used....doesn't mean they want the same amount of success or anything cuz clearly Move will be way bigger than eyetoy

and as for word of mouth and your FB example...what does that even mean? That doesn't = great word of mouth...it's baout the experience the people recieve over time..it doesn't matter if it's Kinect/Move, if the experience is less than promising = bad rep...even on FB lol

Headline = pathetic.  But at the very least, it was a fair attempt at twisting something into negative spin.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

beg activion to add move support to COD black ops and bundle it boom over night success

Like others pointed out already, all theyre saying is that it will be similar with eyetoy having a market gradual uptake with good word of mouth. Not that they are expecting eyetoy sales. I think it may be a legitimate error from the OP, though.

Pretty much what I've been thinking. I still don't think its lifetime sales will be more than 10% of the PS3 userbase and it definitely won't push new consoles.

Same goes with Kinect.

These types of devices need to be implemented as core components in a new console, not (expensive) addons to existing ones.

both lack games..Kinect has the edge with initial HYPE casual focus..Im kinda confused with Sony's strategy with MOVE.

eyetoy was a underwhelming, to be nice, and this is the bar sony wants to set for move??

odd

Hopefully he was mistranslated

yup, I agree on that sony, I also want psmove to have an eyetoy success

Hes saying that PSmove will be succesful in the long run, due to good word of mouth, as was the eyetoy. Not that its gonna sell the same.
