Wonder how the obama loving liberal media is gonna spin this one

By downplaying this whole thing as the non-issue that it is.

Nothing especially wrong with her viewpoint, though. The question is whether anyone's going to care once this has been up a couple years.

What bothers me, is if I have the same viewpoint, I am a Muslim hating right wing nut job who watches Fox News and jack off to Glen Beck every night.

Kind of a double standard, don't you think?

I never said that of you, though others may have. I very severely disagree with the way you think, but i wouldn't do that.

It's not wrong to think that it might be a better idea to move it further away, but what i feel is wrong is feeling strongly about this issue (odd enough, because i strongly support my stance of not feeling strongly about it :P)

For me I don't care if it's there, I just think it's a stupid thing for them to do, because other people do care.

Right now, it's important for the Muslim community to walk on eggshells in this country. This is not doing that.

In winning the battle in this situation, they will lose the war. After they build that Center, less people in the US will be tolerant of there religion, and ultimately less people will become Muslim. Not sure that's there goal.

So the entire Muslim community needs to pay for what ten extremists did? I see absolutely no reason why the Mosque should not be built in a community center a few blocks away from where some pissed off idiots did something stupid.

Should the entire Catholic religion pay for a few priests fucking some kids? No, but they do.

I think what the Muslim community really should do, is not walk on egg shells at all. They should stand up and speak out very heavily against what these extremists have done.

Some have, but most don't. They should fight very loudly on the side of America in this situation. Maybe that's not there nature, I don't know, but there PR up to this point, has sucked.

How do those few priests have any impact on the Catholics in America? (I'm actually curious).

The thing is that Muslims shouldn't have to do anything at all and even when they do speak out, who's there to listen? You should know by now that controversy makes headlines, plenty of Muslims are against what the extremist have done, but they don't get any air time because it's not interesting. I'd also like to point out that it's been 9 years since 9/11, how much longer do Muslims have to hide away? This whole situation isn't about the location of the Cultural Centre, it's just another way for Americans to vent their bigotry.

Fighting on America's side has got to be pretty hard, when their home countries are being invaded and thousands of people are dying in the middle east =/

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

This and as i have said before, we have more important things to worry about.

Last I checked, there are millions of Muslims who's home country, is the US. There are thousands of Muslims that re-enlist in the military on the US side, to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan.

You complain about the media twisting the facts, and yet you fall victim to it all at the same time.

then why is this such an issue? If millions call this place home why are we bitching about this mosque?

Somebody decided it was a fun idea to make this a big screaming deal at some point. Otherwise it would've remained what it once was: just another little zoning intrigue in the city of New York. Now we've got massive overreaction on both sides, given that certain right wing pundits have said some extremely racist things after this was stirred up (the best one was one Mike Williams, who called Allah the "Muslim Monkey God"), and then overreaction from the Democrats going headhunting for racism, since this would be a very convenient way to weed out some tricky Republican challengers

Its evolved far beyond anything relating to the original debate, which is why i feel it should be left alone.

It's an issue, because we are human.

During the cold war, the number of Communists in Russia that were deserving of the hatred we projected, was I am sure less then 1%. But Americans hated Russians because they were Russians.

Right now, the image of Islam is bad, because all you hear about it is bad. In the last 10 years, what Terrorist act have you heard of, that was not from a Muslim?

True, 99% of all Muslims are great people, but they need to do a much better job explaining that.

If this guy spending 100 million on this center wanted to do that, he would build 100 centers around the US, and use them to promote piece and the good things about there religion. That would be a much smarter move, then to build this thing. A lot of Muslims agree with this idea.

The only reason I entered this thread, is because when A Muslim says the exact same things I am saying, the reaction to it is 100% different then when I say it.

If you asking for tolerance towards a group of people like you are in this thread, first thing you might want to do, is practice it.
