As I hear more and more about the controversy regarding Medal Of Honour I am more and more excited for the product. I have long wanted to see a realistic war game set in modern Afghanistan featuring both Nato troops and the Taliban. To allow civilizians to better understand the war.

I was pretty shocked when something I saw as a major plus to the games realism (Taliban) being used to try and hurt the games reputation. Now of course as a Canadian I can't really come at this from a radical American point of view, but citizens from my country are dying alongside Americans and I don't see the contriversy as negative.

Infact I see the contriversy as a major positive, thus the reason for this thread. Could the contriversy end out working in EA's favour? I haven't played Medal Of Honour since its first outings on the GameCube, yet I have my copy pre-ordered. Do you think that people will come out in defence of EA and purchase this game? Will people buy it simply because of the controversy?

Could the controversy lead to a launch similiar to MW2?

I do. USA is regarded in some places (third world mostly) as an evil empire. I am not saying Osama Bin Laden is Luke Skywalker, but some people may find fun killing american soldiers for a change. Just like most of us find ok killig ww2 german nazis. (I am guessing they are pushing the envelop farther than MW2 did with that massacre level and letting you play as a taliban militia against the the US army, I don't know really).

Reality check: people who hate America play videogames too.
