Forums - Gaming - Vanquish demo on September 2nd on Japan

Well... I got this from the Vanquish forums in platinumgames.com...

Apparently there's going to be a demo released on September 2nd... but since the news is all in Japanese, I don't understand anything and I don't know if this is true :P

Let's hope we get a demo the same day =P

Here's the platinum games forum: http://forums.platinumgames.com/showthread.php?t=1231

And here's the article in Japanese: http://japan.gamespot.com/xbox360/news/story/0,3800075348,20418717,00.htm

I didn't know there was a gamespot japan xD

Release Final Fantasy Versus XIII nowwwwwwwwww!!! lol :P

Around the Network

no matter how good it is im not getting it. its a 10 hour game, and with all the games releasing this fall its going to have a hard time finding an audience.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

imo i think V will be amazing, however i agree competition is so high coming up to the final quarter, theres no way a new IP can compete on the same level as Medal of Honor etc...

i think it will sell well in Japan maybe about 0.5-1mil, and i think it could be about 0.5mil in US and EA. and i dont think theres any other really good PS3 TPS, seeing as Gears is exclusive to MS. so its got a good advantage on PS3 at the moment imo. as long as theres some well placed marketing from Sega, seeing as a lot of the ppl i know dont know anything about it.

and i think it will be longer than 10 hours, its a shooter so i would expect multiplayer, which could change the game completely and lead to a supprise hit!!

I think they said there won't be multiplayer in this game because they wanted to focus on Single player and Story... or something like that.

And I think the game will be around 10-15 hours long... and It will have many different modes...

I think you should expect about the same length and replay value Bayonetta has... I mean... I played Devil May Cry 3 for over 99:59:59 hours (I don't know the exact time because my save file would show that number... but I think I've played it for like 300 hours)... If the "God Hard" mode (hardest mode in the game) is simillar to DMC3 Dante Must Die mode in difficulty, I'll play it as much as DMC3 :P

I just hope Save files aren't copy-protected in this one... that's the only reason I didn't buy Bayonetta :S I don't want to spend hundreds of hours playing a game only to lose everything if my PS3 dies >_< I want to be able to back up my Save files >_<

Lol, yeah i actully got really upset about that, i lost my amazing Bayonetta data when PS3 had that whole date crash thing, but i suppose i platinumed it so it wasnt a total failure, but still. Bayonetta is the best action game imo, surpasses DMC3 & 4 imo. Vanquish will do the same with the single player and replay value - no doubt about that, and i'm sorry to say that i think it will be copy-protected, they're the same company, but you should still get it.

i can understand why they would want to focus on single player and story, but i think we'll still get multiplayer. Platinum Games' developers tried to implement online features into Bayonetta with leaderboards, and i'm sure Japanese developers are aware of the popularity of multiplayer in the west. imo multiplayer is the key, if they nail that the game has the potential to become a huge hit in the west.

EDIT: lol, it appears you were right no multiplayer. i'm not a big multiplayer fan, but imo it wouldve worked really well with this game, and i'm sure i woulve enjoyed it. so yeah based on that the sales are less likely to become as successful as something like Gears. not because it wont be as good but because, a lot of ppl play shooters for the multiplayer component, no matter how engrossing the single player is!!

If I get Bayonetta, I know I'm going to play it for hundreds of hours only to get Pure Platinum in every level in every mode... and If I lose that data, I know I'm going to shoot myself, lol xD So I really hope this one doesn't get copy-protected save files :S That would suck, what's the point in doing that anyways? they could just "link" the save files to the PSN account, just like games such as Final Fantasy XIII or God of War III.

Besides, It's not like getting someone else's save file is going to unlock other person's trophies, the only way to get trophies is by getting them by yourself xD So I really don't understand what the point of this is :/

I think this game will have leaderboards too... but I think Shinji Mikami doesn't want Online multiplayer in this one... but we'll see...

really i didnt know you could save your FF13 or GOW3 data to your PSN account, i'll be having a good look at that soon! yeah well they might let you do that with Vanquish, because loosing save data is very annoying and its more helpful for Bayo or Vanquish to enable that PSN feature.

oh and it will be very interesting to see the sales of this, seeing as it has no multiplayer, so it could favor the PS3 in the west despite being a shooter (Japan will be a PS3 win). now that i've heard theres no multiplayer i think this game will hit the £15-20 'bargin bin' within the first 2 months. just like Bayo or ME2. so i'm probabily going to wait now.

Yeah, I saw you edited the last comment now, lol :P

You don't save your FFXIII or God of War III data to your PSN account... but, If you back-up your save files and take them to another PS3, You can only load them but you won't be allowed to make any new save files unless you start all over again from the beginning. The only way to use those save files is by logging in with your PSN account and activating the PS3. I think you have to log in, go to account management and then "activate this system" or something like that... you select "games" (there's also a "movies" option) and select "Activate". I don't know if those are the exact steps, that's the way I remember it :P

I think this game won't sell much xD It'll probably sell like 700k LTD, both platforms combined :P

Yeah, cheers, i've have a look at that. Based on the interest in this thread, its pretty obvious people are more interested in things like Halo Reach or COD, so i also think the sales will be about 0.7mil. but it is in a more popular genre that Bayo so i wouldnt be supprised if it gets to maybe 1 -1.5mil. i think it has the potential to have strong legs when it hits the bargin bin... oh and you can bet if theres a sequel it will have multiplayer.

Yeah, people seem to be more interested in those games. Personally, Vanquish is the last game I like for the rest of the year :P I'm not interested in any of the remaining titles to be released this year except for this one (Unless Final Fantasy Versus XIII is released this year :O a man can dream =P).

I've just checked Bayonetta sales and they're 0.66M for 360 and 0.72M for PS3... I thought they were a lot less (around 0.20M each) and that's why I said Vanquish would sell 0.70M combined... But after seeing those numbers, I think this game COULD get to 2M combined... but it will take a while :P. I also think it will sell more on the PS3 than the 360 despite it being a shooter and shooters usually selling more on the 360... this will be an exception... In my opinion :P

Can't wait for the demo :D
