Forums - Microsoft - Kinect opinions from ACTUAL EXPERIENCE

oh stop it kitler, I for one am really interested in VGC hands on experience and opinions.

I have a day off . FF, do you have a listing of where these demos are located in the U.S I might just give it a try tomorrow if one's nearby.

"I only played for a few minutes but I sure wouldn't want to play for hours like that."

I read that a lot in forums and hands-on previews. The lasting appeal seems ... not so lasting.

I think you just pull it out of the context. Reading the whole paragraph, the original poster seems to mean that most people won't be fit enough to play game like that for hours. But it doesn't seem to mean people will play for few minutes and never touch it again.

Then you might want to reread his words. He's saying "That's not convincing me", meaning it leaves a bad impression to the audience if something is obviously staged. It's different from flat out saying "Kinect doesn't work well".

When you go to Game shows there's always a lot of "staged" stuff, very few "respected contributors" would write negative opinions based on that fact, fanboys on the other hand...

And who gets in line to test first hand a game without remembering its' name ?

This seems so fake to me too i don't understand how Porcupine is so openly gullible...

it is not a problem that you don't understand, because you obviously don't know where this is coming from.

i on the other hand understand perfectly well the need of people to dismiss negative news about a product they favor.

You should try the following:
Go over to that site and try to write a comment using "M$" for Microsoft and you will be told that it's a childish insult and you should refrain from doing it if you want to keep posting on that site. So much for bias.
but you wouldn't go there and call out a man who has a first and last name for posting "fake" articles, would you?

anyway, this thread has asked for "hands on" opinions and i contributed one. i don't like how this discussion is disrupting the thread so i will not longer post here on this subject. but my wall is open for anyone who thinks this pointless discussion needs to be continued.

No, this thread is about YOUR hands on experience, not some writer on a website.  Please keep it on topic.

***** EDIT*****

I didn't mean to quote your post sorry.  It was supposed to be for one above.

*****End EDIT*****

But it must be true the WRITER says so!!!  Just because someone owns a website or writes for one doesn't mean they don't have their own agendas.  We all have them and we all have our "favorites".  There is nothing wrong with having one but to mislead someone just because you don't like it is just so wrong.

I don't get the indifference bit.  From just about everyone I talked to in line they all seemed to enjoy the experience.  And if you talk to most here that have tried it (in groups) most people will also give it a positive vibe.  Its not any concern to me if the article is "true" or not.  But I will say this, I have been to dozens of "gaming" events and I have never seen a group of gamers with the look of indifference on their faces whatever the f that is.  As a group, gamers are usually pretty easy to read and very vocal.  And most of the time we either love it or hate it.  As shown so many times so well here at this site.  (Fanboy battles galore).

Maybe the writer should have used a different word or explained it better.

have you even clicked the link, before calling this fake?

Yes and the content is exactly the same. Your point.  I didnt say the link was possibly false. I said the impression may be fake.

My point being, that he actually wrote a whole lot of "hands on" articles about gamescom. Are they all fake?  He is actually a well respected writer for the sixthaxis. But what about you? Who are you claiming this to be fake? maybe you just didn't like what he had to say and you just wanted to come up with a reason to dismiss his OPINION, as he very well stated!

now i dare you to go over to that site and call him out if you are so sure, and then come back when you have debunked him and tell us all about it.

good luck!

by the way, good sir, he never said Dance Central didn't work, he merely stated that the people watching seemed indifferent, and that he got annoyed when professional dancers played it who didn't even look at the screen while dancing.

but i will shut up now, as i have made my point and don't want to support the derailing of a thread any longer.

Quote from the impression

I got really annoyed when a couple of people started a game of Dance Central – and they were obviously professional dancers with a choreographed routine as they weren’t even looking at the screen. That’s not convincing me that Kinect works guys.

thank you for supporting my point now that you obviously read it thoroughly.

i do not insist on a apology, just be more careful with your statements in the future.

Ok maybe I need to hilight that he says.

"That's not convincing me that Kinect works guys."

Dance Central is just the game.  It is Kinect he is claiming may not work.

So no apology needed.  I have suspicion from that and the following paragraph that he didnt even try Kinect.

Then you might want to reread his words. He's saying "That's not convincing me", meaning it leaves a bad impression to the audience if something is obviously staged. It's different from flat out saying "Kinect doesn't work well".

Further thinking about it.  Dance Central interprets what you are doing so you dont need to watch it.  If you already know the whole dance routine it doesnt matter.  Kinect watches you and Dance Central uses what you do to score you.  So again he doesnt even know much about the game. The onscreen dancers arent responding to you.  You are mimicing the dancers and Kinect scores you.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

In that case, fair enough. My only issue was your first criticism is all.

I decided that I want to repy to this:  you're correct; in fact, I thought that hatmoza was making a joke that meant the same thing, i.e. it won't be lasting because people will get tired and have to quit.
