Looking at how all the pirated consoles are faring, I see no reason for it to happen.

Online is a great attractive and I can't see many people doing like it happens in the X360 piracy scene - a console for pirated offline games and a a arcade unit for online games. PS3 is simply too expensive.

Maybe some offline games, specially the older ones, could take a hit, but I guess most of the people willing to play them are either renting or buying it used.

But still PS3 has by far the most expensive games library out from the three consoles so it could be worse than it is on the X360. Maybe it could force devs to some pricecuts and/or special offers.

Has the 360 been affected in terms of software sales?

Seriously, I don't this is anything to worry about, I'm sure Sony will patch it out with new firmware, which I'm happy for them to do, as long as they don't remove USB support...

They will patch it, but once it been hacked it will only be a matter of DAYS ( A week or two tops ) before the updated firmware is re-hacked and ready for download again for the masses .. once a system has been breached in this fashion the hard work is done and firmware only makes minor changes that can be easily changed..

I beleive the reason the 360 sales software are strong is because a hacked system quickly gets banned from Live ...So most people who buy games like COD or HALO that want to play over Xbox Live against/with friends don't hack their systems... I know ONE guy who has a hacked 360.. he has tons of games (obviously) but he doesn't play over Xbox Live because he says he'll get banned and have to keep redoing it ( putting new hacks to combat updated firmware to stop pirates) .. It really depends on if Sony's online system is set off to 'detect' these things, if they dont do it right away then tons of people will likely do it..

If you look at 360 software sales, I really think that shows that it really won't affect them that much.  To be quite honest, don't some people get 360's because they can hack it and can't hack the ps3?

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

I've actually heard of people pirating on the PS3 before, someone I knew was talking about how his friend was doing it and was asking about it. I told him don't do it, being the good clown I was.

Thats about it, if they are able to ban console from PSN its not a big issue but if they arent its another thing. With each new firmware it will probably be only a question of days to update the PS3 jailbreak.

I doubt that piracy affects sales that much, unless little johnny  kows how to get his games free, so mommy and daddy don't have to worry about buying games anymore.

Which apparently affects hand helds more often.

So nobody knows if the can ban consoles like ms?

yes, this could be Sony´s Waterloo. HUGE differences with the 360

1.YOU DONT PAY TO PLAY ONLINE, those 50 dollars are a huge barrier and bet, specially in third world countrys. psn could become the wildwest.

2. YOU CAN PLAY FROM AN EXTERNAL HD and put your entire game collection there, thats heaven on earth for american and european gamers, its too tempting (psp anyone?). you cant do that with the 360

3."it looks too easy, it must be fake" the same thing happened with the psp. the system is too "open" now.

4."i dont have games too play, im going to install an emulator to play free : psp games, wii games, ps2 games (THIS), etc.

a friend of mine bougth Killzone 2 last week, thats the last original game is going to buy im pretty sure of that

psp´s ghost is haunting the ps3 now.
