AA3 I've addressed. AA2 was far superior, but it's not this gen so I can't include it.

No one seems to respect Fear, and I'm not sure why. The only reviewing site that seems to agree with me is Noobtoob.

Far Cry 2 I can see people not liking, but the overall quality and polish is undeniable.

UT3 is basically the same game as the original Unreal, which still reigns surpreme over all non-realistic shooters.

 

As far as Halo 3 was concerned, it was terrible. I'd seen better graphics on a Dreamcast, the story was cheesy, the gameplay tightness was gone, the level design was the only redeeming factor, and even that was worse than previous Halo games. I love Combat Evolved and Halo 2, but Halo 3 was just a huge disappointment.


I do like them, look at my Gamercard I beat every single game you mentioned but I just don't see how those games stack up compared to Halo 3 AT ALL, let alone Halo Reach.

FEAR is a fantastic series same with Half Life but to me neither one is comparable.

Sonic Adventure 2. One of the most gorgeous games of all time. Do you know why? The devs knew the system inside and out. On a technical perspective it's not better, but I didn't say it was better technically, I said it had better graphics.

 

Also the fact that you said "look at my gamer card" lets me know you played the games on 360. Go play them on a PC that can handle them properly, and then we'll talk.

Way to get a really crappy picture of SA2... I'd still argue that it's more pleasing to look at, it's certainly more colorful. I'd advise you play the game if you already haven't. The space levels are rather impressive, even by today's standards. Also, not sure if the graphics were any different on the gamecube. I think the resolution might have been upscaled, though I can't be sure. 

 

To be honest, I prefer the graphics of Halo 1 and 2 over those of Halo 3.

 

Nope I grabbed the first in game pic of both that I found....the graphical difference between the two are HUGE.

Call of Duty 4 was friggin beastly dude, it won't be easy to create a game that good. It came out 3 years ago and people are still buying it and playing it online.

Dude Halo 3 beat virtually every one of those.....and Halo Reach is looking to be 100x better then Halo 3 so Its pretty safe to say it will utterly destroy that list.

I'm assuming you haven't played them, or at least played the 360 or PS3 version if one exists. Let me show you the error of your ways.

Half-Life's story and exposition and single-player are far surperior. The game just has better mechanics.

Portal does puzzling and humor better.

CS:S and TF2 do multiplayer better.

Crysis's pacing (until halfway through) is much better.

AA3 is forgettable, but AA2 isn't technically this gen, so I just put AA3 in there.

F.E.A.R. 2 did health and shields better.

Far Cry 2 did no specific thing better.

Stalker does immersion better.

UT3 does fast paced, arena-based, combat better.

 

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Halo fan, I truly am. I'm just not a Halo 3 fan. I'm a big CoD fan, but I'm not a fan of the MW sub-series. Both of those have what I call "quality by popularity." Despite being inferior and nothing special, they are more well known than the better games. Thus they are perceived to be better by the general masses, many of whom are either misinformed or ignorant (not suggesting that you are either).

Very few? MANY people absolutely despise the entire series (though many of them out of sheer fanboy rage). And I know for a fact that MANY people hate MW2, and a good number hate CoD4. Halo 1 is one of the best FPS's I've ever played. It combined the elements of Corridor Shooters and Open Shooters perfectly. Halo 2 also followed this approach, but it wasn't as polished due to a rushed development. Halo 3 was much too open, the melee system was broken, the multiplayer maps were too small for the most part, the mechanics were too "loose", the weapon selection sucked, Brutes are no where near as fun to fight as Elites. There are some certain levels of Halo 3 that are great, but they are still nothing compared to the original.

Well then you should be pleased to know that Halo:Reach is going back to its roots in that it was designed to be reminiscent of Halo:CE. If its true its one of the best FPSs you have ever played then Reach will be up there for you since it will most likely take the best of all the Halo series and combining to make a masterpiece. Halo:CE being the main inspiration.

I never was a fan of the Halo series.  Played the first game on the original X-Box, then played a bit of the second game.  Never touched the third one.

I never thought the games were anything special.  They always felt generic, in almost every aspects.  Maybe that is due to the fact I played lots of FPS games on the PC before playing them, I don't know.

 

But Reach has gotten me interested for once.  I don't think the game looks graphically or technically above anything I've seen, but it does looks interesting and promising as far as features and gameplay are concerned.

 

But I never was a fan of those stupidly coloured armors... ¬_¬

LMAO I just watched a vid of Sonic Adventure 2 on youtube. Hopefully what he really meant was one of the most annoying soundtracks of all time in a video game. Graphically it doesn't even look as good as the Wii.

Notice I didn't say "the most gorgeous". The phrase "one of" changes the entire meaning.

 

And yes, the character models are dated, but the environments, effects and art style still hold up. I think that many people forget just how good the Dreamcast actually was (though in reality I only personally own the first SA on the DC, I have SA2 on the Gamecube).
