Someone likes to overanalyze what we can not really know. Just a fantasy in your mind bro.

Well I have a lot of time to think at my job, and it's fun speculating about things that, as far as I know, have never been brought up, especially when you get other people's take on it. Too bad some people just choose to troll instead of adding something to the thread.

Anyway, explain this to me, why would this scenerio be a fantasy in my mind, are you implying that I want Sony to fail next gen as well? Because that is obsurd, how would that benefit me in any way, what could I get out of Sony failing???

Well I might have been drunk when I wrote that I can't remember. A little to harsh I would say. The main point that would lead me to say that is how Nintendo finished last generation with the least hardware sold. Now things are in reverse like the world spinned and Sony is last with Nintendo first. How many people predicted that years before that generation ended. So believing that what happens next is going to be exactly the same has no logic.

Also your certainly not the only dude who does this on this site i just think that everybodies predictions that seem to be delivered as fact are done either to troll one company or because they actually think the are experts in the industry. This might be the case for a select few, but for most it is just random dudes making mostly random predictions.

Still sorry to attack you specifically, but it just seemed like trolling when it comes from a guy with a halo condom (very funny by the way) as an avatar. Have your fun people!!! PEACE

I know it seems like I'm trolling to those who don't know me, but my posting history speaks for itself, I have defended Sony products quite often, and have polked fun at MS products just as much. As a consumer, I want more competition in the marketplace because it makes it better for me.

Anyway Like I said, I was just thinking about it at work and I have not heard anybody bring it up. I thought it woulc be fun to have a discussion about it. I'm sure I'm wrong, but who cares, it's fun to speculate...as long as we can all have an open, honest discussion.

Anyway, what happened with Nintendo is completely diferant then what I am speculating could happen with Sony. Nintendo had the weakest console of the three, it didn't set the bar too high like Sony may have this gen. MS had the strongest console last gen, but it wasn't light years ahead of Sony or Nintendo, this cannot be said about Sony this gen. I do, however, agree with the premise of your post which is, nobody can predict what will happen next gen, especially with the demographics changing constantly.

actually from math point of view  ps3 would be 420MPH or more.

Are those technical figures?

as in floating point calculations raw power

Not much to discuss.

Third parties are returning to PS3 these days (Valve is a huge one here).

PS3 is receiving more third party support, especially because of Japan (Rorona, Yakuza, MGS, Tales, Valkyria, etc.).  Those games do count.

You are probably right about America.  Playstation doesn't play Halo or Gears.  However, America =/= World.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

It also doesn't play Fable or Lost Odessey, Forza or many other games . I havn't very many new third parties come the the Playstation franchise, and they have lost just as many as they have gained, it's a zero sum game at this point. Even if they were gaining in that department, it doesn't negate the rest of my speculative analasys.

Japan is not a market to bank on for winning a console war much less any video game war:

Lets do some analysis:

Japan sells a third in Hardware compared to the Americas market. 4,857,349  vs. 14,716,652. Simple arithmetic, via dividing 4857349/14716652=33 percent.

Japan sells a little more than a fifth in Software compared to the Americas market. 32,223,557 vs. 154,423,227. Again, simple arithmetic of dividing 32223557/154423227=20.1 percent.

Discussion:

Japan is not a market where any of console or game developer will sell 1 million plus copies if it is not made by a Japanese game developer or Nintendo or Sony. The Japanese support their game developers as evidenced in VGChartz Japan Weekly SW Totals and Japan Weekly Preorder Charts. Furthermore, with Microsoft doing dead last in Japan, one can conclude that much of the blame is Japanese preferring Japanese made consoles, while the rest of the blame is Microsoft's business decisions which place priority in the Americas market and EMEAA market over Japan.

The Americas market is the single largest market today. It is the market where games can sell in the millions between the USA and Canada. Henceforth, the Americas market is the market that defines who wins and who loses in Hardware and Software.

The Americas market is the most tolerant and open-minded market concerning video games. Video games from Europe, Japan, and others have a chance to sell just as well, if not better than any game from a domestic video game developer or console maker.

maybe it's me, but what's with all these threads concerning Sony and their next gen console? I think most would say Sony screwed up this gen,(myself included) not trying to sound fanboyish or trollish, but I hope we're not looking over the success Sony had with the PS1 and PS2.

though Sony did have a a bad start with the PS3 I think  the PS3 was Sony's test to its future consoles, I don't think we'll see much of a tech-jump when it comes to the PS4, it seems developers haven't even used 100% of the PS3's power so I don't see a reason to why Sony will jump on making/adding something that will make the PS4 just as or even more costly than what the PS3 was at launch. I actually think it's a good idea if sony is the last to unveil their next console, they can't wait and see how MS and Nintendo's consoles are perceived by the public, gamers, and from a technological standpoint and planned what their next gen will cost, how developers will approach it, ect

I believe that sony's next gen console will be somewhere around $375-$450

yea. they just got brash and needed to learn that history can repeat it self. number one never stays number one for long, cause all to often they get cocky!

as for your price point? i think it's to bold for Sony to pull off if they stick with the cell (which may not happen)and blueray i don't see why they couldn't release one for $299.99($350.99 is still alittle to bold for Sony but i think they could sell it for that.

Mind doing the comparison to Europe / Others / PAL, then?  Isn't that the biggest market now?

well it have it own exclusives JRPG, and Gran Turismo 5.

the thing is sony turned into a first party powerhouse in the transition from ps2 --> ps3.

360 doesn't have : little big planet, killzone, god of war, ranchet and clank, resistance, infamous, modnation racers, motostorm etc etc.

quality and quantity proven.

Yes I will once I get settled in at work. I will use VGChartz data only comparing the Americas market to the EMEAA. Feel free to use data from other sites in your response.

Personally, I wish we could break it down by country because looping in the Japanese market data to the Americas and EMEAA is a tad unfair to say the least.
