its not a problem..the point is what would you call success?
is 20 million smartphone sales a success?
how about 50 million sales a success?
already the xperia brand Android phone was DOCOMO's #1 selling smartphone, the point being This is going to be one more smartphone in a sea of other Smartphones!.one of which would in all likelyhood gather enough support just by the fact that it's a "SMARTPHONE" there was a reason why the Smartphone ate the PDA market..and it's doing it to the dedicated Handheld game space also. now not to say it's going to completely do away with dedicated handheld game system's but from a perspective the Dedicated handheld game system will be small in the market to the market penetration that the smartphone occupy's.
also Sony could also make Android games to sell on the Android app's store.
remember Sony made :

as for casual games, that's like i stated before Android app's provide a great avenue for those type of app's. think about the fact that this phone would have access to PSN and Android app's store. you get the best of both world's.some may say you still need to define the device is it a handheld or a phone, the problem with that is as both the iphone and the android smart phones are "Handhelds"
the idea of trying to seperate the dedicated handheld game device out of the same market as the smartphone is pretty much null at this point because the smartphone many people like it or some may not like it at all the smartphone is competeing in the same market as the dedicated handheld game system market due to convergence. like the games console, there is no longer "just a game's console anymore" they do more than play just game's..and now the same is happening to the DEDICATED HANDHELD GAME SYSTEM market.
