Thats true. You have to play mass effect 1 to understand mass effect 2. There is no sense to port only me2... okay its EA, they do it just because of the money.

Wrong. They can make a "cut scene" to tell MA1 history.

Ummm...a cut scene really won't cut it (pardon the pun). All of your CHOICES from ME1 affect what happens in ME2 and ultimately ME3. Watching some cut scene showing Bioware's choices for how the story could go isn't the same as having your choices affect what happens in ME2/ME3.

If I hadn't played ME1/ME2 on the 360, then I would definitely go for the PC versions as you can get the FULL ME experience on there as well.

I like how some of you are downplaying the fact that mass effect 2 is coming to the PS3. It's all about the money baby!!!!!!!!!! lol

EA wanting money???????????????????

doesn't every publisher want that?

it isn't like they are degrading the other version so it is alrite

I believe they will do a good job of offering a nice intro to the game even giving you options in deciding key events.

I think unless there is something in the PS3 release that at least gives PS3 players the ME1 backstory, then going multiplat isn't going to be all that successful.

Still, I've read book series with very complex and intricate plots and not read the first book in the series but started on the 2nd or 3rd book in the series. Takes a while to get up to speed but it only takes one book to get up to speed with the story and characters well enough. No one is going to convince me that Mass Effect is more intricate and complex than those book series.

I've said before that without ME1 coming to PS3 then I'll skip ME on PS3 and eventually buy a used 360s and play the ME series on 360. But now that I've considered it a bit longer who am I kidding? I'm gonna get ME2 for PS3, I just don't have the patience to wait, and I don't have the money to buy a 360s. ME series was one of the principle reasons for me planning to eventually buy a used 360s. Now that's gone the primary reason to still plan on getting a 360s in the future is the Fable series, and that's certainly not going [console] multi-plat.

YEP, they just confirmed it, there will be something that will give the newcomers to the series the backstory.

You can get the backstory from places like here:(I'd advise against watching it if you haven't played ME1)

It's still not the same as playing through ME1 and making all of the choices from the big ones to the little ones that will affect ME2 and eventually ME3.

If you don't have/want a 360 then getting it for the PC would be your best bet.

i played Mass Effect 1 on my 360, sadly i sold it last year waiting for a slim, so i missed Mass Effect 2, but don't worry, in october i'm buying a new 360S, but i'll wait to the ps3 version of ME2 just for the content included.
