I know im sort of new here and I don't really know much about console sales trends, but I feel inclined to ask. Who are buying the Xbox 360 S? I glance over the weekly sales for the hardware and software sales for the past 4 weeks but I just don't see it. Its had its 1-2 week sellers (transformers, ncaa, crackdown 2) but I don't see these games as console movers. The only consistent sellers I see are read dead redemption and modern warfare 2. The rest of the top sellers are wii games (mario, wii fit, wii party in japan) and DS games ( pokemon, DQIX, fire emblem in japan.) Is the appeal of having built-in wifi and a larger HDD that great? Do people want to get one before Halo, Madden, Fable? Is kinect appeal this great even before it is released? It would be great if I could fully understand who are buying this because the correlation between hardware sales and software sales just dont make sense.

people are just upgrading their xbox for some reason since the new slim is suppose to be more reliable. And yes i do believe that some people are buy xbox 360 s to be ready for kinect.

I personally do not own the new xbox 360s and am not looking forward to kinect but halo reach will be awesome!!!!

It's the same with any new version of a console. When PS2 slim released the software didnt budge, but the hardware went up. Same with PS3 slim. It's not until a couple months down the line that you see some software rise, due to more consoles available outside of preorder and word of mouth for new buyers.

Well I plan on buying one when my current 360 dies or when I have a couple hundred bucks sitting around (which won't be happening for a while)
