1966 was the worst, as England won it.  You probably have to be Welsh or Scottish to appreciate how truly awful that was.

I loved Mexico 86 and Italia 90, and out of all the world cups i've seen, they're the only two I really remember anything from(other than Diana Ross' penalty miss at USA 94).

1966 Its too old world cup & i really dont know about it

It's before my time too, but if you lived in Britain you would certainly know/hear about it.  Especially around the time of any World Cup, European championship, or England game.

English football fans used to sing "Two world wars and one world cup".   Serious business.

lol

2002 was the worst IMO.

2010 will be remembered as the world cup that changed the way football is refereed because of the ball over the line not given thing. Other than that it will be remembered for nothing else unless you are Spanish. It has to be the worst world cup ever. The best? '86 by a long way

Or if you're scottish or welsh let me explain what the world cup is first...

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

I dunno why but England always seems to get some really bullshit calls from refs.  I remember the Euro game against Portugal....my god that ref should have been banned from football.  I remember the goalkeeper reaching out and just falling over...and the goal that was scored was disallowed for a foul?   What complete BS is that.

yes i remember that but i think after this match refree was higly criticsed and got some punishment as well in terms of fine.

Worst WC was 2002, no doubt, totally inconvenient schedule made it impossible to watch most games, hence there was little "atmosphere", that's why I hope the next WCs aren't in Australia (it's one of the candidates) because the timezone will make it again impossible to watch. I barely could watch any matches, compared to the 90% I usually do in all WCs

Try watching every game of the world cup in australia like myself.

I bare with it because i love football, so one world cup 12 years away isn't going to be that bad.

In the 2010 one I couldn't even watch entirely Italy's matches, due to how much they sucked.

But I hated Italy 1990 too, it was when I was doing the military service and when Italy was eliminated the lieutenant was so pissed off that he revoked every leave for that week...

In my opinion the worse soccer world cup is the last worldcup 2010.Almost all big guns were out from the 1st and 2nd round

like Italy, france, greece, brazil,England  only spain & germany managed to reach semis.

And which is the most exciting worldcup u think in history & reasons y ( my opinion 1994 & 2006) beacuse the final match was so excited between brazil & italy i was supporting brazil but the way italy loose was disappointing and then i become a fan of italian team

Just because the teams you mentioned were knocked out early doesn't make a bad WC. Holland got through to the finals which you failed to mention and Greece isn't one of the big boys. Italy, France and England deserved to be knocked out early for the piss poor football they played. In England we really enjoyed the 1990 WC because we got through to the Semis. The best I can remember properly was the 2002 WC. Brazil with Ronaldo played some stunning football and some of the goals Ronlado scored were unique to say the least.

sorry wat else team then u expect to compete in whole tournament if they were out early.you also agreed that they deserve to be out becasue of poor football they played.this is what i m talking about that in this worldcup they disappointed us there was not much excitement in last world cup as in previous worldcups.

Greece won euro 2004 title which is second biggest title after worldcup then how could you say that greece is not a big gun.

Greece is not a big team, they played better than others in that Euro, that doesnt make them a big team, besides, you have the euro and you also have copa america, so I wouldnt call it the 2nd biggest title after the WC.

And teams like Uruguay who have won the cup 2 times and have won many Copas America made it to semifinal, and Germany too, so maybe you can say the final didnt have big teams but they certainly were the ones that played better.

I'm Scottish but I am not bitter about stuff like that.
