Forums - Sony - Valkyria Chronicles II demo - Impressions

So yes, today is the day, Valkyria Chronicles II is avalible as a demo in the PSN, the demo is basically a tutorial and a mission so if you're still on the fence about this game this's a good chance to give it a try. My Impressions so far.

The Good

* The combat system is more complete, now you have a morale system that changes with your action in battle. Your troops are way more effective with a high morale and this actually helps more than the unpredictible potentials.

* The enviroment graphics are really nice, the charater mopdels not so much. The anime cutscenes looks really good.

* Maps are bigger and more complex, now the captured bases are way more important than the first game because they act like link between maps. The enviroments are look more diverse thn the first one and actually have a more importnt role in battle.

The bad

* The control, the analog stick of the PSP is not nearly as good as the PS3 control; I felt some moves quite stiff wich is annoying specially with the Snipers.

* Character design, of course we only have a few characters, but I'm quite unimpress about them. Some of them actually looks like rejected designs from the Shin megami tensei series, plus the game feels like a Gakuen manga/anime honestly I didn't like it much, but that's only my opinion of course.

The bads aren't bads to me. Combat Story = EPIC GAME!

I want that Selvaria sack-girl.

:'-( I won't be playing this game unless PS3 FW update makes PSP games playable on PS3. How likely is that? Maybe once PSP2 is launched then PS3 FW update to play PSP (but not PSP2) games might happen, that way won't detract from PSP sales. If so VCII will be the first game I buy as soon as the FW update is installed.
