Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: Kinect 'Won't Forget Core Audience'

Kinect is launching soon with a launch line up made up largely of casual titles. Microsoft has today assured the core Xbox 360 audience that they will not be forgotten.

Kinect has come under fire from so-called 'core gamers' for delivering little in the way of mature or hardcore titles at launch.

In an interview, European VP of interactive entertainment business for Xbox Chris Lewis has assured gamers that the launch of Kinect will not water down Microsoft's core outlook.

Lewis explains, "In this stage in the [Xbox 360] lifecycle, Kinect represents the way in which we are reaching out and connecting with younger, older, female and more family-orientated audiences."

"That's not to say we are forgetting the core," Lewis continues. "From out point of view, we remain committed to that audience in terms of bringing full-blown, blockbuster games to that space: Halo, Gears of War, Fable and so on."

This title is misleading. It doesn't say that Kinect will not be abandoning the core audience. To the contrary it almost implies that, by saying Kinect is for kids and grannies and non-Kinect games are for the core audience.
