FPS  games have been around a long time before halo, and at a much higher quality. FPS games have gone way downhill because there is no reason to try and make quality when people will just eat the same garbage over and over again. And if you truly think this i suggest you go out some older fps games that did what halo did better and earlier.

Much higher quality? This quality is judged by what, you?

Without Halo,I guess the FPS genre would have been equally popular on PC as it is, probably much less popular on console, the development online communities on consoles would have started later, so today console game's multiplayer would be less online focused, since I prefer fps on PC and I prefer local multiplayer to online I guess it would be the same if not better for my tastes.

world without halo? hmmm i wouldnt care, i hate fps's anyway

i'm not a into halo or anything but i've got nothing but respect for the franchise.  it had a great impact on shaping the modern shooter and bring prestigue to the console gaming space.  without halo something else probably would have taken its place but that's not what happened.

You really just don't have a clue do you

I guess not, care to enlighten me about what was wrong with what I said?

FPS's would be nothing without Halo...It really is a masterpiece of a game.....and the fact that so many people have had TONS of fun due to Halo and what came from it means the gaming world would have been much worse without it.

I don't think FPS games have gone downhill, games like Halo Reach, Half-Life 2, COD4, Killzone 2 and others are a testament to this.

And to my knowledge there aren't any FPS games that did everything that Halo did...I know there are a bunch that did parts of what Halo did but not as a whole package

Looks towards PC, thats where the quality is.

Only in your opinion....

None of the Halo game series is a master piece, they can be fun and good, but if you are looking at it as a master piece, then you need to play more games. You can like the world, the novels, and the games, but master piece my ass.

If Halo never existed, then well I'd be very disappointed haha.  Well guess I wouldn't be becuase wouldn't have existed for me to like it to be disappointed but you get my point.  Really can't say too much more, as I'd be speaking on things I really couldn't say.  But I would personally think that Halo made a great drive into bringing more mainstream gamers into hobbyist gamer fields and really pushed the shooter genres on consoles.

no, because video games are not art as a total package so there is no opinion, it's not a master piece, done.

Halo is a masterpiece, period.
