Honestly microsoft does not have to garner any favouritism by way of critics as there target audience doesnt rely on critical praise when deciding on a product, its more of a 'ooh that looks good, il buy it' mentality, ie the wii

For me Kinect looks terrible sure the dance game and work out game look decent but they are certainly not enough for me to warrant purchasing 150 device.

I would actually argue that many casual gamers are more discriminating that their "Hard-Core" counterparts. They tend to choose games that they have had fun with in person, and have yet to hype games simply because they have good graphics. While games like Just Dance may have been poorly reviewed and sold well, I would bet that (roughly) 75% of the copies were sold to people after they had played and enjoyed the game; I would doubt that any HD game would have similar levels of people trying before they bought them as the typical casual Wii game.

I don't really like stuff that I don't think is working like it should.  This includes the WiiMote without Wii Motion and Sixaxis controller before the Dualshock 3 came out.  From what I have seen, it looks like Kinect is good in concept but needs alot of work before I will consider it.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

Ye i agree with you, casual gamers mainly look at the fun factor of games, but thats just my point, theyr really not interested in the technical aspects of either the games or the hardware itself. Whilst most of the critcism surrounding kinect directly targets its technical inabiltys, not whether the games themselves are are fun.

all games are fun, casuals go for non-mature games with a cute and colorful background, with nice and pretty artwork, or they get games which make you move, like just dance, wii sports resort, wii fit. now those are the wii casuals.

as for the ps3/360 casuals they get shooters and some very popular franchises like cod, halo, assasins creed, gears.....

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

I didn't realize this would a thread with a deadpan accurate title.  I thought it was going to say relax and give it a chance, etc.

Oh well.

I know I've posted I'm not convinced around Kinect from my own point of view, but I don't hate it and I'm not sure why others would.

If it finds an audience then it's succeeded to an extent.  If not it's just another peripheral that didn't find a market.

There's no need to hate it, even if the gameplay it supports isn't for you.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

The way that I used the word "hate" was the negative perception of the product's worth, not an emotional disgust or revulsion to the product or even hate in the truer sense such as one might hate things like genocide or ethnic cleansing.  But, pretensions aside, this post was reasonable.

i dont think anyone hate it, but certainly overhyping it's going to kill it fore core gamers, since it may not do half of the things it promised or work really well.

microsoft like going market it more for casuals.
