Forums - Microsoft - IGN: Failure to Kinect

before looking at the video i understand the motivations of mega64.

all ms has given us this gen is lets say "hardcore" games and mature experiences, heck xbox live is praised as much as halo. if i was a 360 fan i would be disapointed, not everyone is like you guys in the forum, they don't want to play kinect, as it looks this whole holiday would is based on kinect yes their is fable 3 and halo reach but those arent going to give ms first place this holiday, kinect will. and if kinect is succesful(which will happen) they will base more games around it, and possibly focus on it a lot, giving the hardcore games less games to enjoy. until know other then kindgom and gears 2 2011 looks week for 360 fans.

i understand their frustation, i ofcourse are going to buy move just to play shooters, but i'm pissed that they delayed socom 4, i would have loved a new ip this holiday. well atleast sly copper and heroes of move are coming.

This holiday season is going to be one of the best the 360 has seen to date. I am fairly certain I will be broke the entire time thanks to the lineup they have coming.  I have no doubts they will continue to keep me and my "hard core" game addiction taken care of.  As long as there is money to be made on the hard core audience Microsoft will be there with their hand out to take our money...

I don't see why the two can't co-exist together.  While I mainly want exercise and dance games for the Kinect, I will continue to be a "hard core" player.  But anything that will get my couch potato loving ass up and moving around is a good thing and I can't wait.

I still would take CNN's word over any game sites including VGC's.  They are known and respected, whether you like them or not.

i thought people hated CNN as much as Fox News? i myself don't trust any news source at all.

Trusting CNN on gaming/tech is like saying Yahoo gaming articles are full of win....a myth..they do however reach a broad casual audience so it's good publicity for the product nevertheless

anywho funny video

Have you even read any of CNN.com's tech area?  They are usually spot on with everything put up.   Comparing anything yahoo does with CNN is a bit silly.  CNN does the news, its their job and they have plenty of awards to prove they do it well.

The problem most gaming sites have is pretty simple.  They take theirselves to seriously, and CNN is usually more centered.

Did you read the article? The CNN author doesnt give any feedback about how well it is working in reality. His article and comments are based on the affirmation that the technology is working exactly as specify by Microsoft.

I actually read the article and several others that CNN has had on Natal/Kinect.   CNN has had several demos of Kinect throughout the entire time Natal has been made.  Do you think the guy wrote this shit without actually having played any Kinect games?  You lose all credibility if you do.

Did I say I tought he didnt play the game? Even if I did, why would I necessarily loose credibility? Anyway thats not the case, like I said, he didnt preview how it was working in reality versus the concept, not that he didnt play the games. Maybe he didnt played them but that wasnt my point. Still, im curious, why would I loose credibility? Is this journalist recognize as being very inform about the products he preview? Do you have a good understanding of what is required to write article on the CNN website? On what basis would I loose credibility if my point was that he didnt play the game since he didnt report any of the problem others have reported? Very nice of you to say I would loose all credibility just because of that...

I wouldn't trust anything called the chicken noodle network for news except maybe about food.

yes cnn are known but not respected. jhon stowert and steven colbert know more about politics then them. also what would they know about games? yes ign arent that reliable but they are gamers.

IGN knows about games and CNN knows about politics. I would love to hear IGN's politics since CNN's games are screwed up.

Um who doesn't respect them?  Why are they not respected?  Who is more respected?  Colbert and Stewart are fun to watch (and I do watch them) but they are hardly good political pundits.  Could you give me a few examples please...

There is an old saying that I believe in whole heartedly, Trust but Verify.  Just because I watch CNN on occasion doesn't mean I take everything they say to heart.  Or that CNN is all that I watch when it comes to news services, believe it or not I do watch other stations on occasion (except fox).  And I do trust what they say for the most part but I always verify it.

CNN is not the end all be all of news reporting.  But I dare say they are right more than they are wrong and when they are wrong they will say so.  Jeez sometimes I think you guys believe in nothing other than your console of choice, and nothing else matters.

I have a wife and family and hopefully one day a few more children.  Gaming isn't my life and it never will be.  With this said I do love gaming it is my favorite past time and I do take it somewhat seriously or I wouldn't be posting on a gaming sites forum.  I have said what I needed to say and I am done trying to defend CNN or any other damnd news station.  How did I get into this fracking situation to begin with?  Give it a rest sigh...

It's funny, but they do have a point. Connect 4 does look much more fun than Kinect.

i dont live in the us, so i have the world wide "version" of cnn, my counrty had a 3 month ware 4 years ago with isreal and the way they reported it was terrible, lots of false information. when it comes to understanding foreign wars and such cnn are terrible at it. are cnn bad at what they do no? i watch their channel every day, but when it comes with foreigns affairs i don't respect them because they give false information. they try kudos to them, but globally they arent that respected(when it has to do with foreign views)

what does a console of choice have to do with cnn?

Actually he did state that he had demoed the Kinect and that he thought it worked fine.  Here is a quote for you since you apparently can't read or missed it....

"Microsoft will launch Kinect on November 4, but earlier this week I got my own hands-on -- or should I say, hands-off -- demo, and was impressed. Moving from menu panel to menu panel is as easy as waving and swiping your hand; selecting an item just involves letting your hand (and the onscreen cursor) linger for several moments over it. The experience isn't nearly as seamless or as speedy as the glorious futuristic interface UI designer John Underkoffler created for Steven Spielberg's sci-fi thriller, Minority Report, or the UI Tony Stark tinkered with in Iron Man 2, but Kinect's gesture controls will remind you of those interfaces in a very good way. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if people walked away afterward thinking Microsoft's latest device was a significant step toward the day when those interfaces are the norm and not some Hollywood pipe dream."

Your comments insinuated that the guy was clueless about the Kinect and that he had never played it.  Did you say that in exact terms? No..  Why does that make you lose credibility?  Because it shows that your reading comprehension is lacking. just because the guy didn't go into massive details about every little thing the Kinect does right or wrong he either A) hasn't tried it or B) is wrong or C) doesn't know what he's talking about.

The person that wrote the article stated that he had played the demo and that he had enjoyed it.  His main concern was the price.  So maybe the guy didn't think there were any "Huge" bugs with the system.  And as for my understanding of what it takes to write an article for CNN its apparent its much higher than yours.

It is better than normal Connect Four.

And it supports FREE online play (no Gold membership needed):

And want more than two players?  Well, I give you MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER CONNECT FOUR:

Hundreds of people could theoretically play Connect Four AT THE SAME TIME!

sales wise i agree with you, game wise for the hardcore it depends, for huge halo/fable fans ofcourse but for people waiting for a new experience then probably not.

im not saying they can't co-exist but ms is putting to much emphasize in kinect, until know for 2011 we have kingdoms and gears 2 in march/may. while for ps3 we have infamous 2 and killzone 3, twisted metal, and sorcery.

im not saying i agree with mega64, all im saying is that i understand his reasons to hate kinect, yes i have only one console, that doesnt mean i hate the 360 and thats why im bashing kinect. as a gamer who isnt interested in motion controls i would have sony to put a bigger emphasis on AAA titles for ps3 this holiday instead of it having on move, and respectively for mega64.

also you have to take into configuartion that pre-e3 many 360 fans expected kinect to be playble by the hardcore, and obviously they were disapointed.
