Try booting into recovery mode and fixing/restoring the filesystem. It shouldn't delete anything, but will fix hard disk errors, including corrupt OS packages.

Hopefully that should work.

dude Im sorry to sound dumb, but WHAT!!!

How do I go about doing this?

This is what I've found on google:

PS3 80030001 problems, for starters, have to do with corrupted files and file databases. While this is something that is not too well explained in manuals, the occurence of ps3 error code 80030001 is pretty unpredictable. Make a point to do some periodic backups specially on files that you think are most important to you.

To catch those corrupted files, you can simply reboot your ps3 console. Most of the time, if there are detectable corrupt files in your system, it will be detected by your ps3 upon startup, and will proceed to doing self repair. Part of the process is to fix those corrupted files and at the same time rebuilt the file database.

Once the repair process is complete, check to see that all of your folders and files are intact. You may need to redo some of the folder hierarchy at this point. That's how simply you can fix ps3 80030001 problems

You can also try what scruff7 said if the PlayStation 3 doesn't detect anything when it starts up.

No problem, here you go:

How to Access Playstation Recovery Menu

1. Turn off Playstation®3.

2. Hold The power button down; The system will turn on and turn off once again.

3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps

4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.

5. You will be promted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button

6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

You'll see 5 options (i think), only use the restore filesystem, as the others will format harddrives and stuff. It might work, but it may not. worth a try though.
