I like to spell it Hephaestos.... people often put ä or ë though (the blacksmith god, also the god of fire, Vulcain for the romans, he is the son of Hera... she gave birth to him out of anger at Zeus having many mistresses, thus he was born disformed and out of repultion she threw him down to earth... but born from a godess (and no other parent) he was himself a god and survived. He is the husband of aphroditis (love, beauty...how ironic), but there is a thing about him finding her in bed with ares or something.... oh well i'm a bit shady on the details of the story, it's been a while.

Hephaestos also created the shield achillese gestes from his mother during the troy war (damn i forget how to spell half these names in english)
