The last on my list would be #1. I don't need games like that. That's what they make text books for. That's not to say that a game shouldn't try to tell an immersive story, but it doesn't neccessarily need to "challenge my perceptions of the world."

No option mention fun because its relative to your answer. The OP wanted to know what you find fun in games. If one of the option would be: because its fun, everyone would have selected it and we wouldnt know what is actually fun.

#3 for me! Also the main reason why I love RPGs without developer made protagonists. I love the freedom to play the game mulitple times knowing that certain decisions made in each playthrough will lead to a different ending than my last playthrough.

I was tempted to choose #1, but it is the main reason why I have strayed from JRPGs as I have aged. I prefer to make my own story, not some half-baked dystopian fantasy struggle for the fate of the world that some Hideo Kojima wannabe concocted during a sleepless night.

I don't care about your developer envisioned story and ending, give me the platform and supporting cast to turn your world into a heaven or hell of my own making.
