ignore the others, lol, you need to get at least a Bsc in Computing, or something directly related to gaming would be better as the Bsc in Computer covers a much wider area of subjects.

pay rate depends on what area you are working in. check out http://www.animationarena.com/video-game-salary.html and http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/27938/2009_Game_Developer_Salary_Survey_Sees_US_Average_Dip_4_Percent.php

you heard the old addage that the road to hell is paved with good intentions? Intentions are important, but one needs to have a vision and a means of achieving that vision along with good intentions. As believers, we know we can never change of our own free will. However, we are promised an Advocate, One who will come alongside in our struggle. The Holy Spirit is the effective agent of change in my life. A life yielded to Him can produce wonders and has produced wonders in my life, but a vision is needed, intentions affirmed and a means of daily releasing the will to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit

This must be the most off-topic post ever.

No, they don't get paid well and they are generally miserable.  Most of them would tell you not to do it for the money.

I have no idea why they are not, but they are among the lowest payed profesionals in computer science, the logic i heard was that you get payed more for something no one wants to do than for something everyone wants to do. What i know for sure is that programers make less than artist and that they all make less than DB admins, DB develpers, Network admins for big networks. I was invetigating a couple of years ago and also found out people in the administrative part of the gaming industry make most of the money.
