Forums - General - Favorite Japanese Artist/Song

So...This is a thread about favorite Japanese music artists.  Also list your favorite song (doesnt need to be by your favorite artist.

I have a couple.  First I love Dir En Grey.  Runner ups: Suga Shikao,  Yoko Kanno, X Japan, Utada Hikaru.

My favorite song comes from デスノート (Death Note).  The song is the first ending theme called Alumina by Nightmare.  Runner Ups: Nami Hikari by Suga Shikao, Forever Love by X Japan, D-tecnolife by UVERworld (2nd Bleach opening)

The Pillows are too awesome for me to pick just one track.

The Pillows - Scarecrow is a fantastic song

apart from that I love Angela , especially Asu e no brilliant road ( Uchuu no Stellvia opening) and Dead Set (insert song in Soukyuu no Fafner -Right of Left- )

and tons of songs written by Yuki Kajiura are pure gold (Canta per Me , Key of the Twilight , Kaze no Machi he , ..... )

lately I've really gotten into Rie Fuus songs aswell ( Life is like a Boat - Bleach 1.st ending , Tsuki Akari - Darker Than Black 1st ending )

Respect level x10 for you sir

Other musicians/bands I like are the GazettE, Akira Yamaoka, Gackt & Malice Mizer, Kiyoharu & Kuroyume and obviously X Japan.

For the favorite song it would be a close call between MACABRE/Zakuro by Dir en grey and Art of Life by X Japan. A very hard choice. No, I'm not that into anime songs, but I love What's up people?! by Maximum the Hormone (Death Note)

"What's up people?! by Maximum the Hormone (Death Note)"

What? They made that song? I was just listening to 'Chu Chu Lovely Muni Muni' and I would have never guessed they were made by the same artists.

Hmmm, let's see here... The only Japanese I've ever listened to (other than the track mentioned above) were straight from anime's.

Invoke by TM Revolution (Gundam Seed)

The World by Nightmare (Death Note)

I Wanna Go to a Place... by Rie Fue (Gundam Seed Destiny)

Life Goes On by Arisaka Mika (Gundam Seed Destiny)

First opening of Bleach (Don't know the artist/name, nor have I seen a full episode. I've only heard and liked the intro)

 Cruel Angel's Thesis (Evangelion intro)

I guess I could go on and on... especially with the Gundam Seed stuff since I liked 90% of the tracks it had.

By life end:

  • Wii- 100 million+
  • Xbox360- 35~40 million
  • PS3- 30 million
  • PSP- 30~32 million ------------- FAILURE
  • NDS- 85~90 million (Skeptical)  - FAILURE
  • NDS- 100 million+ (Optimistic) -- Success!

Personally i love bump of chicken and aiko quite a bit.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I know I am living in the past =\ But I love it. Honestly, I don't know what good NEW music is out in Japan. Are Bump of Chicken and Aiko? Any more?
