Activision has previously said they'd like to monetize Call of Duty online as it is immensely successful and they don't receive any additional revenue beyond the price of the game and DLC. CEO Bobby Kotick has said that they would be able to offer additional features this way without going into detail what those features would entail. Analysts such as Michael Pachter have also predicted subscription plans as well.
