Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft trademarks new control (standard control, not Kinect)

Isn't too late for this?

A patent filed by Microsoft earlier this year and approved by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office this week suggests that the company could be working on a new 'dual-mode' Xbox 360 controller that can be utilized as both a wired and wireless solution. Unlike the current play-and-charge system, the new design would not only power and charge the controller, but also directly communicate with the console, providing the true precision of a wired connection.

Interesting.. I thought the 360 controller already did this.. I guess not. That means that the current 360 controller only charges through the USB and still talks wirelessly with the 360... ghetto. ¬_¬

This would be pretty hand if you play on a PC as well. You can sync wirelessly with the 360 and use the USB on the PC, providing the charge kit turns off the wireless while plugged in.
