Forums - Sony - A serious Gran Turismo 5 question...

Hey guys,

I have GT5:Prolouge and when I play it online it automatically matches me up with some random dudes and I have no way to decide any options for the race. Another thing is WHEN we race, you can drive through each other and it feels a bit :( as I might want to push a car sometimes for the lulz :D (And I like the fact that you have to try and find an opening to go past a guy instead of just driving right through his sorry ass xDD)

Does anyone know if you can decide options such as laps, cars, what people to play with and being able to ram your car into someone elses, online, for GT5?

EDIT: Or maybe im playing something weird because I just saw a video of GT5:P online where YOU CAN RAM into each other. Im so confused :( You might just want to answer the decide option stuff instead.

Dude GT5 online will be much much better.

GT5P online was more like destruction derby it was so bad.

Yeah I guess :>..

Raming other players in a race is frowned upon in the GT community. Hence why they voiced it enough to have PD fix it. The "quick" fix was to give the rammer a time penalty (car is slowed for 10 sec or so) however that still didnt stop the rammers. So PD made it so if a car is identified as going to ram another car then that users car or the opponent will become a "ghost".

This will most likely change when GT5 drops as it now has damage and that will be a huge deterrent for rammers.

All i can say to you is dont get in the habit of ramming people in GT as it will quickly get you put to the ignore list of ALOT of GT players and you may end up finding yourself playing alone or with other rammers (which may suit how you intend to play the game). If you really want to ram i would suggest you get Burnout or the next Need for Speed game.

As for the other questions.. there is no lobby system in GT5:P so you cant pick a race/car/laps/etc.. its all pre defined by PD with the events they post up monthly. There are PP (Performance Point) requirements for each of the races to keep it competitive.

GT5 if you have already read up about will have a lobby system which supports 32 players (16 on tract and 16 spectacting), you will be able to pick the tracks, damage, PP, laps, etc.. you can make tournaments, Race teams and more. GT5 will have a huge info drop at next months game show.

Amazing post, thank you SO much and while I don't plan on ramming someone, I still want to HAVE someone there, so I can actually try drive past him and feel that I left someone behind.

And if an accident decides to occour, then I want to truly enjoy the damage of my own car and other cars xD.

Thanks mate!

People just cannot handle normal racing, they haven't a clue how to slow down.

I think they should stick to a 10 second slow down if you ram someone HARD, I don't want to race ghosts..

Think they should also set a option to change the penalty for hard hits. And if they have ranked games, they should ban people for 48 hours for excessive hits (worst penalty of 1 week). Also ranked games should have braking lines ALWAYS on, so people know when the brake zone is, so there isn't a reason to fly into people going 180 MPH without touching your brakes.

Why all this? Cause people who would play professional ranked games, actually want to RACE, and not fuck around.

I think that is confirmed that will be a "Free mode" in online, with you can drive back and forth in the lap, making drifts etc. only "4fun" with other players.

Sweet, lets hope it's true.

yeah that is already confirmed. Its essentially called a "Track Day" just like real life. You jump on the track with other players and just drive/drift/practice/race around it with no lap limit. Its like going to a real track day.

Most people will use it to teach other players/friends/team mates the best lines around the track and to test out their latest tune without going into a race and being destroyed. So you could fine tune the settings before you go racing.

Just hang on a minute, let me call my fortune teller...nobody knows yet dude, its not out till November.
