Forums - General - Will 2010's Game Of The Year Be Part Of A New Franchise?

I have enjoyed further outings of franchises previously released but fresh ideas need to be formed for a new game. I would consider this year as a highlight in gaming but is overwhelmed by sequels. Perhaps a game based upon a gardener that can form various biomes at his/her command would be created. I would consider the "adventure" genre to be the most suitable for this game. 2010, perhaps not, 2011 is possible.

Of course, we are due to see a new Nintendo franchise at some point! It may involve one of Miyamoto's hobbies!

If I create this game in the future then I shall place copyright on it now.

Yep! Apparently it is a mixture of "The Legend of Zelda" and "Super Mario" franchises but has some alterations to those franchises.

It is impossible to reach 100% for innovation, for obvious reasons. But forming a video game that can revolutionize the video gaming industry is possible. It is more difficult these days due to the amount of ideas that have been used.

Well, if we look at likely candidates (as of now) we get a better picture

- Mass Effect 2

- God of War III

- Halo: Reach

- Red Dead Redemption

- Starcraft II

- HEAVY RAIN (yep, as time passes, I'm thinking it will get some nominations)

None of those would be considered new franchise, unless Mass Effect 2 would still be considered a "new" franchise and HR won't be a new franchise.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 and potentially  Metroid: Other M (due to not being released as of yet) should be added as well.

Really, my favorite is Final Fantasy XIII, though it has no chance of winning based on the critical/fan reception.

So out of the ones I think are possible
I think Mass Effect 2 will win. Based on What I've played now (In games which isn't a whole lot).
Though if Star Craft 2, could come close or beat it, if it has the quality of the first one.

I thought TWEWY should have one it when it came out. And I thought it was the best game this generatuion for the reasons you described in your OP. But it didn't. I'm glad Demon Soul's did (at some places) last year wing game of the war. As it was my favorite game last year And Second Favorite new IP. (Yes, better than uncharted 2 imo)

Vanquish won't win but i have high hopes for it.
