Forums - General - Is Lady GaGa one of the most musical artistic people ever?

lol - not many people liked my post. xD

I'm guessing for all of you (and especially ragebot since he quoted me some bands) that you just flat out don't like pop.  i'd probably be right in thinking you don't like Justin Timberlake as well despite the fact he makes amazing music??  Not liking pop music doesn't make a pop artist bad - just not your taste.

Myself? I'm a fan of all good music.  my collection contains everything from lady gaga to nine inch nails.  dixie chicks to modest mouse.  pixes to mozart.  squirrel nut zippers to ben harper.  belle and sebastian to eminem.

i promise you...lady gaga is damn good pop music.  unlike the marginal pop artists like kesha who only has one good song and a ton of filler, every song on both of lady gaga albums is worth listening to.  the theatrics is just a bonus imo.  i haven't been to many concerts in my day but lady gaga is definetly one i want to go to.

You are, of course, wrong.

I like pop, I hear lady gaga a lot, I also know how to put music in prespective.

Lady gaga has the potential to become someone who will last a long time, but right now, I just don't see what long lasting qualities she has, why will pepole still listen to her music ten years from now?

It's not like in the beginning of modern pop, in which everything becamse a classic because they were the first (and michael Jackson was a damn good music artist).
In order to be someone who lasts a long time, Lady Gaga needs to bring something that will make her really different, like in the music she played before becoming "lady gaga" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_hHc7TZjyY

If she could bring this quality into pop music, she really will be remembered,

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Not to mention the fact that you don't need to love pop music to understand these things, this is following historical trends.

Nevermind the fact that pop music is supposed to not last long, most pop music is music that you're supposed to hear while driving, or in parties, stuff like that, it's not music that you're meant to really listen to, the kind of music that creates a bond between the listener and the music artist.

Pepole just can't connect in a deep level to music like Lady Gaga's, unlike songs like Comfortably Numb and November Rain.

I'll way for another album before commenting anything on Lady Gaga. She could be the next Madonna or just another pop gargage as girls like Kesha or Bieber.

My only gripe with her is that some of their songs sound a bit artifical to me (it could be an impression, of course). I'm not one of glorifying 70's songs like if nothing worthy was released since then, but at least in the past you knew when an artist was genuinely good listening their music.

@rage - nice video.  i havent' seen that before but i really think it works against your own point.  that video just goes to prove how talented and awesome she really.  the second song was amazing - like a laday gaga unplugged.

and who says pop music isn't suppose to last long.  the beatles were most definetly pop and still one of my favorites.

and saying songs have to make people connect at a deep level is just wrong. 34 years later ABBA's dancing queen is still one of the most reconized and memorable songs - not exactly a multifacited deep experience nes pas?

It does prove my point, my point was that she has potential to stay long, something that 99% of pop/rap/whatever "artists" don't have today, it remains to be seen if she manages to merge all of her different talents into pop, because she really has an amazing potential.

I think that i've said before that in order to stay relevant, a music act needs to either be something special that connects with pepole (like Pink Floyd) or being first/very important in the long term.

And Beatles aren't exactly "pop", I mean, the lyrics of songs like Let it Be and Yesterday aren't really dance songs, right?

Abba were also pretty revolutionary, and were the first to use a lot of techniques now common in pop music.

Shes all show and no go.

if you really listen to her without knowing that she is dressed like pizza the hut or not wearing anything at all , you will realize that she is just like the other "Artists" that you hear on the radio.

edit : whos "Taylor" ?

rock music is dying, besides Linkin Park and a select few.

Linkin Park isn't even "Rock music" , i now think this whole thread is just made for trolling, or you just don't know anything about music.

okay, i can live with your potential statement.  i believe she will but i she hasn't been around are done enough yet so i suppose you are right there.  i have faith though, she's the real deal. xD

She is an average musical talent and a above average self promoter
