Forums - Sony - It's not About Where for Uncharted 3, it's about Who.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was based around the historical figure of Sir Francis Drake and re-tracing some of his explorations/adventures.

Uncharted 2: Among Theives was based around the historical figure of Marco Polo and re-tracing some of his explorations and adventures.

So the key question for Uncharted 3 is not where Drake should go, but who's path of adventure / exploration he should re-trace.

He's done an English explorer and an Italian explorer so far. Being a bit Eurocentric in theme to date there are Spaniards and Portuguese explorers to consider, and there are Dutch and Belgian explorers. There's also the Vikings, who were realy the first Europeans to reach North America, they just didn't realise what they'd found so didn't actively seek to colonise it.

Personally I like the idea of Drake (and Elena and Chloe - gotta keep that love triangle going) getting into the machinations of King Leopold II of Belgium, in relation to the Congo. This particularly nasty tale heavily involves H M Stanley, who coincidentally is the person who is attributed with the famous line "Dr. Livingstone, I presume", which happens to bring the whole quest for the source of the Nile adventure into the frame, and with the Nile being part of the tale this brings Egypt into play and that gives us the pyramids which come with mummies (though don't want too much focus on mummies, what with those Brendan Fraser movies hvaing already been there). As the Congo is approximately 30% of the worlds diamond reserves, it's pretty obvious where the "treasure" angle would come from.

A gigantic African romp throughout the Congo, up (or down) the Nile, through the great Rift Valley, all sorts of supernatural possibilities, political corruption and intrigue surrounding diamonds ranging from the African warlords and banana republics, through to big business in Europe and America, and throw in Ebola virus for good measure. It could all start with Drake trying to put a big old diamond ring on Elena's finger, and it all going wrong from there.

Who do you favour as the adventurer/explorer for Drake to follow?

An Alien, Kinda like what indiana jones did only a lot better.

I don't really want it to follow the same formula (story wise) as one and 2 is what I'm saying. As, I thought 2, was about as you could get with that formula

but, I often disagree with people on what sequels should be :D

What you wrote in your first post sounds pretty great to me!

I like your idea a lot, but what I really want to see is a prequel all about Sully's adventures. Maybe not as U3, but down the road somewhere.

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

Someone like Alexander the Great or Ghangis Kahn. They created giant empires so it would be easy to go over many parts of the globe following these guys.

Who will he choose, Elena or Chloe?

TEAM ELENA! WHOOHOO!

cristobal colon maybe

to me Uncharted seems to focus around a famous treasure, el dorado and Shangri-La, as much as the explorer.

the one explorer/treasure that i can think of is Juan Ponce De Leon and his search for the fountain of youth.  could be interesting as it would take drake to what is now Haiti and Florida.  seems he was involved in a political battle with Columbus as well.  maybe things could cross over into the downfall of the mayans as well.

anyways, most of this post comes down to me not having a very good schooling of historical explorers.

Maybe for a Uncharted in PSP 2? :D

What about Vasco De Gama? (spelling wrong?) He was the first around the horn of Africa.
