PSM3: New MediEvil in development

SCE Cambridge Studio hasn’t been too active in game development this generation. They developed PS3’s PlayTV and are working on the upcoming Move title, TV SuperStars. They did work on LittleBigPlanet for PSP, too. Looks like they might finally be working on a full-fledged outing.  

According to the latest issue of PSM3, Sony Cambridge is working on a brand new MediEvil title. It wasn’t mentioned what platform the game would arrive on, but we would assume PlayStation 3 considering: 1) they already made a remake for PSP and 2) they haven’t really done much on PS3 as of yet. Our source for this information, Games Thirst, doesn’t mention whether this was in the rumors section or not.

The first MediEvil launched back on PlayStation in 1998. After its success, MediEvil 2 launched in 2000. A remake of the first game, MediEvil: Resurrection was made for PSP is 2005.

 

Great! one of the few SONY IP's I actually like. Fond memories with this game.

If it's for ps3.... OMG YES.

I loved the games on ps1.  Now I'm tempted to track them down on ebay, since I was never able to buy them, but they can be quite a pain to find.

They'd have to seriousl reboot the franchise, though.  The gameplay iis pretty archaic at this point.  They could make a competent hack n' slash game mixing the artstyle of the new Ape Escape with a good sense of humor.

Count me in, been waiting a generation for this.



Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

If Sony wants to reboot a franchise, they should pick LoD.  Since that will never happen, I do fondly remember the two games and am looking forward to more info on this.

I belive other wise. I dont know why but I think we will LoD by the end of this gen. Now if i doesnt show up by that time, Then I will mark it off, but I cant see any reason why SONY wouldnt do another LoD it sold great * Nearly 1.2 iirc with a majority of it from NA*

And it would be a JRPG that would ACTUALLY get some marketing (WW that is not made by SE)  I would love to see how well a JRPG would do that actually had some marketing muscle behind it.

LoD2 is in my top 4 games I want a sequel of (with Suikoden 6, Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Homeworld 3), but they have not even given us LoD on the PSN.  Im still thinking it might be more possible they will do a remake on the PSP before they do LoD2.
