It just seems like they didn't really make any changes from the original ps eye. And I really do not think it can do alot of what kinect do. I think that is a fanboy dream. Kinect has two cameras one wich is infrared, and the software for voice recognition and facial recogniton, to sony's one camera that is not infrared, and what I would guess to be slightly worse voice/facial recognition software

well here is differences between the ps eye and kinect
ps eye:
augmented reality which includes,
- gender recognition,
- facial recognition,
- age recognition,
- object recognition (patented well everyday items are patented),
- facial expression recognition (patented well laughter is patented),
- head tracking
there is a mic but it's primary purpose was to help detect the position of the user, in my experience it isn't good at voice recognition, although that could be down to the software as well
movement detection
video conferencing
exoskeleton software, but not to complicated, tracks move, head and some other parts of the users body (requires move)
3D (requires move)
there is more I'm just not thinking of it at the moment. oh and most of the augmented stuff is from what sony says is in its vision library with the exception of eyepet very few games use them.

here the vids I got most of the data from. other things were from personal use.
natal (based on what MS has told us)
augmented reality from what I have seen they also have a pretty descent library although they haven't demonstrated or shown age recognition, I don't see any reason why they can't do it though. the facial expression and use of everyday items are patent protect so unless there is away round it.
3d depth tracking
full body tracking
mic, primarily designed as a command interface,
movement detection, more advanced the eyes uses infra-red and other things
area you have to be in will adjust depending on the size of the room
built in processor to do the calculations, freeing up the 360, processor. (the chip is called prime sense made and named after the company behind kinect)
video conferencing, you will be able to watch movie's during the call.
exoskeleton software very exact, tracks large skeletal points in the users body, also used to determine age and gender, smaller bone parts like wrist can not be track, but the software is significantly better the eyes'.
again there is more probably a lot more with natal but this is just of the top of my head.
