@ kowen: You mean "you can't base anything on Amazon" ... and "look, amazon shows it's outselling move (or whatever) by a mile"?

Also, 360 is much more popular in Americas, it's only natural lots of people jumping the gun on Kinect than in EU. Quite like when PS3 launched, lots of Europeans jumped onboard just for the strong brand name.
My themeforest portfolio:
The "it doesn’t have a price yet" excuse really depends on how the pre-orders are being managed. While I haven’t pre-ordered anything in a long time, at one point in time pre-orders required only a small portion of the purchase price (10% to 25%) as a down payment that would go towards the purchase of the product when it arrived; and usually people were allowed to refund their pre-order to some extent (typically if it was far enough ahead of the release that the order had not been actually placed). If people are unwilling to put $15 to $45 towards the purchase of Kinect today to ensure they get one at launch, what is the likelihood of them spending $100 to $150 for one after launch?
At the same time, if "Pre-Orders" are entirely "Pre-Sold" systems I could understand why someone would be reluctant to buy one regardless of whether they know the price or not. In the past retailers have over-promised their initial shipment by as much as 10 times what they received, and I wouldn’t want to pay full price ahead of time unless I was confident that I would receive the system when it shipped.
Kinect might not be that awesome, but its way better than move, yet the preorders are lower. How weird...

Why?
Perhaps users aniticpate greater value for money with the move? Also not everyone can have the space to jump around infront of the tv. It will be to hard for me to pretend to punch things with the move! As well as that, some people seem to think that the move has a more attractive lineup and will likely be able to aquire non nintendo made Wii games.

Microsoft hasn't given people enough information for them to decide if they want Kinect or not.
As a "core" gamer, you don't know if there will be attractive games for you.
As a more casual gamer, you probably don't have a 360 in the first place, and if you do you don't even know how much Kinect costs yet.

Does it have a release date? yes Kinect has no release date, no pricing and no advertising. And the site is a shitty site with a poor reputation.... Game will have lots of pre-orders for Kinect I'm sure, they have mine for one. |
Kinect might not be advertized much yet, but it's the same for the PS Move.
There is only rumors about Kinect's pricing, and all of those (even one from the Microsoft Store) mention a price betwen 130 and 150 USD. Although not official at this point, it's enough to make people not really interested in the device at this point. There's indeed nothing wrong with that, since it's still months before release and Microsoft still have a chance to surprise people with a significantly lower price.
That being said, Kinect does have a release date. Announced at Microsoft's e3 conference.

actual games are indeed needed... i'm a mild reader of gaming news and i've yet to see anything interesting for kinect (and move too for that matter).

Better how? Everything I've seen indicates Move is a better device for actual gameplay, with the ability to support pretty much every current genre in addition to the fun/sports "casual" titles.
Kinect is cool, for sure, but better? For games? I'm not conviced of that at all at this point.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
