Forums - General - Just got back from The Last Airbender... NOOOOOOOOO

the problems didnt seem to be all that much with the directing at all....the writing (which he did so we can still blame him) is really a huge problem.

Was it more like this?

Or

Yes I messed with them I put Vador into a faberic style and the other guy into a woven style look at the corners to understand..

Former something....

So...can we stick a fork in M. Night now?

I know I wrote a comment that you can't mix certain shows with certain directors. I love Airebender, I like MNS. But in no way could I comprehend that this man could to Airbender. Never not in a million years. It should have been done by Wheadon.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Most disliked Transformers due to plot/story etc. I enjoyed it.

Most disliked Star Wars prequels. I enjoyed all of them, jar jar and all.

Most disliked the last four or so m.knight movies. I enjoyed them.

Avatar is an interesting show with a lot of potential, however, its story and charaters at times were just silly and stupid. It is a cartoon aimed at children with children viewpoints and humor.

Your expectations just weren't right for a childs cartoon turned into a childs live action film. I am sure I will enjoy it this weekend and just as Transformers, Karate Kid, StarWars 123, etc did not ruin my childhood, neither will this.

The trailer really had me hyped up and now after reading the reviews i am so terribly disappointed. I mean the movie looked good, but apparently that is not the case. M. Night is one of my favorite directors and somehow ever since Signs he has really taken a dive, i dont know what the problem is

That's the M Night Shyamalan effect. Almost all of his movies look great in the trailer, but turn out to be trainwrecks in actuality.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Well I'm still going to go watch it... yes I'm that big of a fan of the cartoon series.  Reviews aren't always the be all and end all of judging if one will enjoy something.  Only you can do that yourself.

However I AM going in with reservations that this might suck.  I really don't know why they chose M. Night.  He had some great movies, but what experience does he have in a martial arts flick?  Still, I'm hoping I'll be surprised and enjoy the movie.

The problem I see is that for those who followed the animated series, there will be huge expectations.

For those who don't, its difficult to compress a whole book (season) into a 2 hour movie.  A book comprises of 20, 23 minute episodes.  It will feel convoluted and rushed no matter what.  It will continue like that with the next 2 series IF this does well.

I like all those movies too. This is still one of the worst things I've ever seen.

Good luck bud.

I've just finished reading some reviews on rottentomatoes and... my god did M. Night Shyamalan drop the ball in this one, even Ebert couldn't find a single redeeming quality about the movie. Thank you for ruining one of my favorite animated series Shyamalan.

I still can't believe this movie was made by the same guy who created the Sixth Sense and Signs.
