I didnt quite get it, your being too subtle. Are you suggesting Demon's Souls?

You can't go wrong with either, if they are the sort of game you're into. For me Demon's Souls appeals to me more in terms of type of game and general atmosphere. But you don't play Demon's Souls for "fun". You play it for the challenge, and fun is a by-product. Dunno whether Alan Wake is more on the fun side or challenge side.

@ "but for some reason i just dont like demon's souls atmosphere. it feels kind of grey" It is, after all, a game based in a world that has been overrun by a demonic "colourless fog"? I think there'd be a real wrongness about the game if it didn't exude a depressing greyness.

If you don't like the atmosphere Demon's Souls intentionally and effectively creates then it's not a game for you and the answer to your question is a no brainer: get Alan Wake.

Demon's Souls is GOTY-worthy, and it deservingly won a few GOTY's. I think Alan Wake will also be at least nominated for overall GOTY on some sites / magazines, and like Demon's Souls it may even win the odd one.

I think in terms of generation defining games Demon's Souls will stand above Alan Wake. But Alan Wake will be there among the list of games that stand out from the crowd when this generation draws to a close.

Demons Souls, its the cheaper of the 2. Alan Wake will be a Platinum hit by December. On the other hand you want something "fun" and I would say most gamers will not find DS to be fun.Its more of a rewarding game for most. I dont think either game really appeals to most gamers (though I have not played too much Alan Wake) as one is a grinding RPG and the other is a Horror game.

but for some reason i just dont like demon's souls atmosphere. it feels kind of grey if you guys know what i mean. anyways do you really think alan wake will drop price fast??

it's ment to feel dark, and alot of the time you are shit scared because you don't know what is going to happen next and you don't want to lose your souls, it's fun, it will scare you more than alan wake.

anyway there are some levels which don't look all grey, there is plenty of colour in there, you just need to see the later levels

sounds interesting but i dont understand the fun part in it. i know it is a challenge and all but is there some kind of fun in it. can you describe to me what kind of game it actually is. does it have a good story to keep you going?

Alan Wake is a very streamlined experience, you will have fun there, especially if you liked Uncharted, for in my opinion it has the same kind of appeal.

Demon's Souls on the other hand is rough and hard and ruthless. If you are one of us masochists, who love this new (in recent videogames) feeling of being almost totally helpless (not the shining hero who kills everything) and this fear of every fight especially against new foes/new areas with unknown horrors and the constant threat of someone invading you (if you are in body form), which all turns to utter joy and satisfaction once you kill a hard enemy, then Demon's Souls can be a tremendous, game changing experience to you.

Nope. Story is as bare as it gets, and there's no plot or storytelling cut scenes. The best way to describe it would be an HD old school adventure / RPG game both very punishing and rewarding. It's also 10x scarier than Resident Evil, and more atmospheric than Heavy Rain.

but isn't alan wake a little bit of more value for me though. At gamestop Alan Wake is $50 and dem souls is $40. I am actually getting one of these game as a present so shouldn't i go for the more expensive one?
